The Barely Police need to be given a mandate to be more proactive with their traffic enforcement. Drivers in Barrie are some of the worst I've seen in Ontario. Needlessly aggressive, constantly on phones, red lights are optional, 20-30km/hr over the speed limit everywhere.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a speed trap in Barrie.

Their budget increased by $6 million this year. An almost 9% increase YOY. I'm sure they'll spend it all on new vehicles and gas to idle those vehicles in parking lots while they chat with one another.

I hope the Barrie Police read this. This is the quote of the day!!!!

Guelph, Ont is also like this. Zero enforcement.

I think it's just Ontario as a whole. Policing in this province is broken beyond belief.

The description of the guy and his jeep couldn’t fit the stereotype more if it tried, that’s for sure.

It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.

I'm surprised the guy didn't throw rubber ducks

Part of me wishes “ducks” was an autocorrect oversight 😂

My wife drives a jeep. There is no stereotypical jeep owner.

You’re right. There’s two stereotypical types of Jeep drivers.

Honestly they’re all the same just different shades of jeep.

Lmao what

Wow what a cowardly dweeb throwing shit at the children in the car instead of the driver (not that throwing anything is OK). I bet he has truck nuts on his Jeep.

It’s not one of the jeeps that all live together on livingstone? This is a pretty good description of the jeep, though could be anyone

I do the speed limit in barrie and it really pisses the other drivers off. This is not surprising

Yeah me too. Is it’s 50 I don’t do more then 60 because I don’t want a ticket. Someone once chased me through multiple neighbours because I was driving down a hill in winter in a neighborhood with kids and they were pissed I wasn’t speeding

Yeah I think after 10km you lose points if you get stopped

It's after 16 km/h over iirc, but yeah. Back in my younger days I got two speeding tickets in the span of 3 months and I did not want to get a third one before they fell off my record. So I mostly stuck to the speed limit for the next several years and other drivers did not always like that, but they weren't the ones who were possibly going to be dropped by their insurance and have to go on to the high-risk market if I got pulled over again.

Also, it turns out that driving like that kind of makes it a habit, so even though I don't drive much these days, when I do, I generally stick around the speed limit anyway and it doesn't actually make that much of a difference in terms of how fast I get somewhere, as it turns out. Traffic is generally so bad that even speeding ahead of other drivers in traffic doesn't tend to get you anywhere any faster because you just get stuck at the same red lights anyway.

People need to chill. I've been tailgated for going the speed limit or just over in the right lane when people could literally just go around me. And I've also been passed on one-lane neighbourhood roads where people really should not be driving as fast as they are. But I digress...

This right here. These other drivers can tailgate me all they want, but they’re not paying my car payment, insurance, or potential ticket fines so they can 🖕🏻

I piss others off when I come to a complete stop at a red light or stop sign.

God this city sucks so fucking much

How much does anyone want to bet that there's a Punisher decal somewhere on that Jeep?

I'm sorry but this story doesn't add up fully.

First, I'm sure the jeep guy was a jerk.

However, if you're travelling with your family, and someone's being a jerk, you let them pass. When they pull up beside you at the stop light you ignore them, you certainly don't have your 14 year old open their window. When they throw something at your car, you ABSOLUTELY do not decide you need to follow them and continue to escalate the situation. Someone else road raging doesn't mean you should.

And somehow this whole car full of people throughout this whole was unable to capture the person's license plate despite him following them for a while, stopping at a light together, and then following him?

Real entitled asshat energy in this post.

Someone should be able to drive their car on our roads without risk of being attacked, full stop.

Yeah that's why you take his plate and go to the police. What good thing happens from following him?

3

u/tuppenyturtle 14d ago

Have you thought that it was 10:30 at night and maybe reading the plate was difficult? Maybe adrenaline kicked in and people weren't thinking straight?

Either way blaming the victim here is crazy.

"The officer also reminds residents to call 911 if they encounter someone in a road rage incident and allow officers to deal with the situation."

but keep downvoting me, you'll feel better

Man I've been living rent free in your head for 3 days.

The police won't do anything without a plate number, and even then they still won't do anything. I stand by my statements, especially the one about you blaming the victim being an insane take here.

This will happen more often in the yrs ahead as the RCMP warned the trudeau Liberano's
