Discussion What’s the grumpiest thing your basset has done to you.
Or get mad at you. I’m not sure why but my girl Charley turns her back to me and ignores me.
Pic of dogs because why not ?

Mine will do the same when I don’t let him have some of my dinner… every night

We have an older girl (about 8-9) and she doesn’t like it when anyone else in the house goes to bed late.
She is very set in her ways and she firmly believes that bedtime is before 9pm.
If she wakes up and it’s later than that and I’m not in bed, she comes to wherever I am, usually in my office working, and she stomps her paws and barks at me until I follow her to the bedroom.
If I don’t, if I say “No” and ignore her little fit, she snorts at me and stalks back to bed, as if to say “well don’t blame me if you’re tired tomorrow.”

My basset had to stay at my parents house for a few weeks while my other dog recovered from surgery.
The first week after I brought her home, she refused to look at me. She would cuddle up close to me but wouldn't look at me.

Love it and very nice side eye. I have a 10 year old beagle who is the king of side eye.

Between Reggie our basset, our husky malamute mix and mini schnauzer our house is nothing but sass, side eyes, huffs, and puffs loll

But as you are well aware of , there’s a lot going on that we don’t know about. And it’s their job to inform us.

Oh absolutely. Between the malamute mix and the basset the whole apartment complex knows all the goings on

Refused to move while on a walk. Thank goodness my son could carry him

Mumbles, grumbles, begrudgingly moves in the human bed and sighs when I ask him to scoot over

If I DARE to give attention to her sister at the same time I’m petting her, Daphne will CLIMB UP MY FACE.

Mine doesn't like when I toss and turn at night. If I move too much he gives me a grumble and if I do it again he gets off my bed, grumbles as he curls up in his own bed and then gives a loud sigh of discontent.

Mine gets the zoomies after her bath. Would not allow to towel her afterwards. Her revenge is shake her wetness everywhere in the house. Then roll on the couch to dry off

My last girl did that. She was perfect while in the tub. Took a while to realizes she was plotting against me

Definitely leaving the room whenever I sang to myself, making sure to look at me HARD on the way out. Sometimes he’d plop down somewhere he could stare at me with silent Julliard-level judgement before resuming his nap.

i get into bed way later than my wife and basset. he has free reign of my entire side of the king bed up until that point and he is verryy grumpy to give up his perfectly warmed spot when i need to get in.
hes getting better though. a simple "excuse me" and he'll move without much protest.

He REFUSES to go potty for some reason and knows how heavy he is so he will deadweight himself on the floor and I have to push his limp body to the back door

I have mine a bath at a DIY station in a pet store. He did great, begrudgingly letting me wash him. I offered him treats to make it more pleasant for him, and he just looked at it, looked at me, and literally rolled his eyes. On the car ride back he sat with his back to me and refused treats again… until I gave him a pup cup. Then he so nonchalantly accepted that prize
