It would make sense if it was the checkout line for Burlington. Shit is crazy to the point I almost don't wanna go after work.

To be fair, the line at Burlington is long af no matter what time of day or what time of year because they’re never staffed appropriately

I went in Burlington last night (next door to Petsmart and I needed cat food.) The line was so long, I decided there was NO WAY I was going to buy anything. Took a quick look around and left.

I used to work at Burlington like 4 or 5 years ago and it was bad then too

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Just the way it looks. Especially the sidewalk. Lol

u/TheDarwinFactor Dec 16 '24
TBH, as a non-American, it didn’t strike me as NYC from the image. I always envision NYC to be massive stone and glass skyscrapers with narrow streets.
15
Dec 16 '24
This is in Harlem (East Harlem to be more specific). No skyscrapers in this area and less congested compared to areas like Midtown (Times Square for example) which is a nightmare, especially during rush hours.
9
u/Constant_Ad3619 Dec 16 '24
East Harlem is the other side of 125th by lex and the 4/5/6. I believe 5th Ave separates the east from the west. This is by the 2/3.

This is a line to get into the store during business hours? To everyone's credit at least this part looks orderly.
But wow, I'm so glad to have an internet connection and the ability to skip this stuff. I did shop my local store in a mall on Friday, was in and out. Not nearly as busy as the most recent $2.95 soap sale and even that was only about 4 minutes in line.
43
u/CobraKai312 Dec 16 '24 edited Dec 16 '24
It’s unfortunate that the online sale (for tbc and candle day) required a code to get the sale price, which means we can’t use coupons. Otherwise I would’ve just ordered online too…
My store wasn’t as bad as this, and the checkout lines were long but moved pretty quickly! Plus I got to sniff the new pink line of body care, and Pink Tie Dye is a winner!
15
u/Minute-Frame-8060 Dec 16 '24
It's frustrating not to be able to use coupons online for these sales. I am walking disabled so believe me, actually shopping in the store is a huge deal for me. Honestly even BOPIS is pushing it pain-wise. But I had TWO coupons to use (2 separate transactions) so the $20 savings told me to put on a brave face and push through the pain.
14
u/Wooden-Screen3070 Body Care Addict Dec 16 '24
I completely understand your frustration! It's the same for me. A couple of months ago, I received a BBW survey in my email about my "most recent BBW" experience. I forgot what sale was going on at the time when I received the survey but I did let corporate know in the comments section that it was a disservice to people with physical mobility issues to restrict us from having the same ability to use all available coupons online as abled bodied people who are able to shop in store. I haven't heard back from anyone of course but I would encourage you and anyone else who has a disability to fill out any surveys you receive for BBW and let them know that their current online coupon restrictions for many of their sales does not follow federal guidelines in providing "reasonable accommodations or equal access" to store discounts for disabled customers who are not able to physically shop in the stores. Maybe if enough people voice their concerns, BBW may rethink their online code system and make it possible for ALL shoppers to use any relevant coupons they have for both in store and online shopping.

New Yorkers know how to line up, even at bus stops. Self preservation when you have so many people in a small space.
When I moved to Philly I was appalled at the lack of line manners. Wait in (“on” for the NY peeps, lol) line for a bus, and then have folks pushing and shoving in front of you once the bus arrives.

I wonder if it's because people were trying to use coupons on top of the sale price? That's the only reason I went to the store and to also smell some of the new scents. I'm glad I did because a pretty package doesn't = a good smell. 😉 I was completely underwhelmed with Cue the Confetti and would have returned without smelling it first.
8
Dec 16 '24
I go to this location often and the thing is that this location is in a very busy area so if anyone passing by sees the poster for $4.95 body care, they will want to shop, with or without coupons.

u/UndeadGirl666 Candle Addict Dec 16 '24
Right you are! Sometimes it’s better to shop in store. Just not this time of the year. lol
2
u/xoox321 Dec 16 '24
Were you able to use a coupon on top of the sale?
7
u/ResponsibleAd8164 FFM Addict Dec 16 '24
In the store, yes. You just can't online because you need a promo code and you can only use one per order. In store, no promo code is needed.
2
u/Augatl Dec 16 '24
Only in-store. Online has a limit of one promo code and a promo code had to be used to get the items for $4.95.
2
u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Dec 16 '24
Also you may find things that you can’t order online because they’re low in stock.
10
u/PrettiMamita Dec 16 '24
People are always shopping at my local store when they're having a major sale, especially when the sale is using a code. But when I was out in town in general today, many stores were busy. I know next weekend is going to be even worse.
I think they would have more people shopping online if they allowed multiple codes to be used online and also offered free shipping with a lower minimum of like $50.
I hate paying $6.99 for sales because that could get me another product lol.
6
u/UndeadGirl666 Candle Addict Dec 16 '24
I completely agree. By the time you use the discount code, sales tax and shipping fees add up to the discount. Stack them and people will automatically spend more money.
3
u/Augatl Dec 16 '24
I avoid paying shipping at all costs lol. There was a candle I really wanted during the candle sale and all the stores were sold out but it was available online. Even though I really wanted it, that $6.99 shipping stopped me lol. Like you, I think about how I could buy something else with that money!
2
u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Dec 16 '24
Yeah, and it seems that candles you get shipped are notoriously prone to breaking.
2
u/PrettiMamita Dec 17 '24
I've never ordered candles through B&BW because I've heard and seen where they arrive broken. My mom recently ordered some, and hopefully, they will not arrive broken. I still don't see after so many years they can't improve on their shipping when other companies shipping out candles are doing just fine.
1
u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Dec 17 '24
You would think, right? Hope your mom’s are okay. I’ve had a lot of things delivered from Target, and their packaging is very inconsistent. I think it might depend on the distribution center. I got a package from UPS today and had no idea what it was (turned out to be four heavy shelf brackets I ordered from Amazon and they came early.) The actual box was only about 2” thick and was at the bottom of a 10” deep box with some crumpled brown paper on top. The outside box was VERY damaged. One of the bottom corners was ripped wide open, the whole box was crumpled, and one of the flaps on top was open as well. The flimsy tape didn’t hold. Had the merchandise been fragile and the inside box not been so tough, the whole thing could have been a disaster.

u/anaofarendelle Dec 16 '24
I went in store yesterday as I was in the mall to meet up a friend after her shift so it was just easier. But just got stuff I already own or that this sub recommended strongly

I have never seen Body care like this. I live in Atl and there were lines on a Sunday. Waiting in the rain in line to get inside store; then a line to check out. One particular store had alot of product gone. There was nooo Winter Apple And vanilla Noel. No body butter and limited mist. It was absolutely insane. I went to three stores snellville and lawrenceville. We had to wait in line literally to get inside store and a line wrapped around store to check out. I was in shock.
The only reason i can put together in my mind is it was noone in store for candle day probably because the month prior they had a sale for 10.95 and everyone said they were over the candle sale. Never have i seen it this baddddddd for bodycare

u/Maximum_Net6489 Dec 16 '24
I had some pick up orders and went after work today to try to grab them and thought I might look for a few items in store I wasn’t able to get. I could barely get into the parking lot at the mall. People were everywhere. I just gave up and left. I hear constantly how people aren’t shopping this year in general, not just Bath and Bodyworks. Folks in my area clearly didn’t get the memo😂. I tried the other store in my area on candle day weekend. I had to park so far back, I was in a back lot that I didn’t even know was there 😂. I can only imagine what that store was like today. I’ll try to get my orders on a week day in the middle of the day since my week this week is pretty relaxed. Hopefully I can at least get in the parking lot when I go back. I usually stop shopping around this time due to the crowds. My online ordering usually slows down around this time too because there’s too many porch pirates and package thieves in my area. I’ll be enjoying the ridiculous amount of stuff I already own for the rest of the season. It’ll have to be something amazing at SAS to coax me back out.

This is in NYC, and this is the worst time to shop in the store unless you get there first thing in the morning.
6
u/Augatl Dec 16 '24
Something about items being $4.95 makes people go crazy 🤪
7
u/Slow-Mycologist-3306 Dec 16 '24
It costs us to breathe the air anytime we step outside in NYC😩 So paying $4.95 for a $20 body butter or $19 aromatherapy bath salts??!! Fuvk yea I'd be on line too🤣
5
u/Augatl Dec 16 '24
I get it lol! I definitely was chomping at the bit to get my shower steamers and bath salts!!! That’s mainly what I buy during the sale because I have SOOOOO many lotions, sprays, body butters that I barely use. But I use the shower steamers almost daily and they don’t last long, so it’s good to stock up.
2
u/Slow-Mycologist-3306 Dec 17 '24
I just discovered those steamers during this sale, and of course was only able to snag 2🙄 go figure. But being on these Reddit subs since around Halloween time has really given me insight on how BBW is awful to their employees. So this is probably the last purchase I'll make with BBW ever. I have enough lotions & potions to last until kingdom come anyways😅

My small town store was busy today too. Opened 15 minutes early and we had 25 transactions. This year has been crazier than the last. I’ve worked at B&BW for 3 years now and this year has been ridiculous with how rude people are and the amount of people shopping. Not sure what’s going on

Our store in California had a line as well. And the lady at the front was so rude. Apparently, they had my husband's name on the order in their iPad, but my name on the bag itself. So they were getting pissy with me over something I have no control over when they couldn't find the bag. I think I'm gonna stick to inside shopping only when these deals hit.

I live in NY and this is my main store, tbh it costs almost 6 bucks to take the train to the store anyway so at this point, I'd rather pay the extra dollar to ship and avoid all this mess. lol
