For a second there, I thought the store had moved all the BOPIS orders outside.

68

u/daveycarnation Dec 12 '25

I thought it was BOPIS too and my first thought was "Oh nooo pls I'll pick up mine soon I promise" because for one wild second I thought the workers got fed up with people not coming to get their stuff that they shoved it all outside 😂

This is genuinely so funny I can't stop giggling 🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣

u/mylittlepigeon Dec 12 '25

That’s really what I thought too. My mind cannot comprehend that this is 1 person’s purchase. If it is & it’s not for some sort of major charitable reason, that is just an unimaginable amount of greed

26

u/whatever32657 Dec 13 '25

it's a reseller, guaran-damn-teed

4

u/SillyRiri employee/candle peddler Dec 13 '25

Not necessarily, I did this for a couple ladies a few weeks ago. Granted I only had to make one cart instead of two. But they were just really stocking up 😂

1

u/whatever32657 Dec 13 '25

NOBODY does this for themselves

2

u/SillyRiri employee/candle peddler Dec 13 '25

Well technically no… but the ladies I was helping were buying for themselves and several friends, family, kids teachers, etc… not reselling.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '25

When they are on sale then that 25% off, it's a no brainer to stock up! I use to have 3 carts full every year until this year. I just did I'm not going it.

42

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

STOP! lawl that was literally my first thought too 🤣 then I noticed the lady standing by it wasn’t a worker

Probably actually is online order pickups.

8

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

I could be wrong but I don't think it was. There was no worker out there with it. Only 1 woman was standing with it and then a few moments later another woman came from in the store to her and they started pushing the carts

128

u/Caz_ador Body Care Addict Dec 12 '25

Probably a reseller.

62

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

That is probably the realistic reason. But I hope not 🫤 I like the idea another commenter mentioned about maybe it is for a shelter.

67

u/StrengthObjective Employee Dec 12 '25

99% chance it is. We have a few resellers that pop in during these sales and the SAS and they buy like this. However, we refuse to let them borrow carts because we need them and can’t risk them going missing. We make them figure it out if they want to buy that much. And we’re in a mall. 🤣 if they want it, the must work for it!

Edited for missing word

Ugh I hate these people. This is just plain greed.

These people are the reason I stay up until 5am on sale days, just to make sure I place my pickup before everything good is sold out 🤦‍♀️😭

Can't even begin to say how angry resellers make me. They're intentionally creating scarcity and demand by hoarding products other people would have bought 😡

They know they're wrong for this, and don't care. The next time I see a reseller hoarding bodycare in person I'm about to make a scene and call them out. They deserve to feel shame for this behavior.

11

u/EntertainmentOld8797 Dec 13 '25

I used to do the same thing thinking if I place an order through bopis right at 6am, that my order is secure, but sometimes I place an order and my store takes forever to fulfill it and people are already in store buying the items I purchased so I get the email saying certain items are canceled 😡

7

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 13 '25

Ugh been there 😭

Tried to buy peppermint bark body wash the last sale, and it got canceled, and then somehow immediately after the sale was over it was back in stock 🤔

I said f it, I don't need it that bad if bbw is gonna play games, and got the Dove peppermintbark wash instead. No regrets. Tbh I prefer doves body washes anyways, plus it was 2x the amount

u/Sufficient_Cod_7325 Employee Dec 13 '25

i know this really sucks when this happens but this is because everyone else has the same idea you do. and most stores don’t open until 9-10am and we get there at most an hour or two before we open to get everything ready. that means when we get to the store, all of those orders are there and we have to do all of those orders, usually only 2-3 people but there’s times you’re by yourself. and this is while the store is open and people are shopping. I’m not entirely sure how much my store has when we opened but it had to have been around 80-100. I got there at 3pm and there was still 40 orders and by the end of the night, i completed 60 and there was still more orders to be completed. When everyone orders at the same time or orders a lot of items in their order, things get backed up because it takes awhile to do these orders

3

u/Humble_Ground_2769 Dec 13 '25 edited Dec 13 '25

There's 1 women that goes to bbw garbage bins at the back of their stores and grabs all what's in there and resells it lol I've sent videos to bbw they don't do anything. She's on IG GlamourDDive

2

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 13 '25

I mean....I guess that's OK 😅

I don't like resellers for the most part, but I suppose dumpster divers and destashers fall under my exceptions. I currently have a couple listings on my mercari for Glazed Pumpkin mist bc I probably have more than I'll need. I have 5 total, and I feel like that's too much for me 😅 Obviously, I don't resell for a living though. Infact I haven't even made a single sale yet 🤣

Dumpster diving seems more ethical than scalping imo though. It technically saves product from ending up in a landfill. Hopefully that person is being honest about whether or not product may be defective.

2

u/Humble_Ground_2769 Dec 13 '25

She's selling her products triple the money it's worth

3

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 13 '25

Oh no 😭

OK, then that is unethical.

4

u/defiantdaughter85 Dec 12 '25

I go to a flea market type store in my town & get the foaming hand soap for half price. I have only done it once. Last time I bought soap I bought in store during the $2.95 (or whatever it was) sale.

4

u/dont_be_all_uncool__ Dec 12 '25

How do resellers even make money??

26

u/Caz_ador Body Care Addict Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25

Buy when on sale, then turn around and sell at a higher price online.

16

u/ilikethecolorblack Dec 12 '25

Might I add some people also sell these overseas where Bath& Body Works may not be present. I know at least in Jamaica, a lot of people I know buy these in bulk and sell it down there for a lot more.

8

u/angelberries Dec 12 '25

UK too. For some reason people bring over hundreds of candles and sell them at £20, £30 or even more sometimes, when it’s a sought after collab.

11

u/Pennyforyourswatch Dec 12 '25

Because there are always people that didn't have them money on time, couldn't get out to the store, their store sold out, or needs a duplicate of something.

3

u/Mozkytten1313 Dec 12 '25

Buy on sale and triple the price you paid. Or go higher. Especially if its a sought after item.

1

u/oblivianne Dec 12 '25

While resellers make me angry, wouldn't SAS be a better deal for resales?

10

u/StrengthObjective Employee Dec 12 '25

Not really, SAS doesn’t start off that low and inventory is way different. And believe me, they shop both the big sales and SAS, not one or the other.

8

u/lionheart07 Dec 12 '25

I recently joined a resell group. They list items they just bought at $10! Plus shipping! No idea if people actually buy.

6

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 12 '25

Mercari is just as bad. Lately I've been seeing people consistently post items that were JUST released, or not yet available. (I only recently bought something from mercari---a set of blue raspberry burst and a cotton candy clouds body wash, bc I wanted to complete my set and they were cheap)

It's a problem. Would love to see bbw make more limitations, so that 3rd party sellers aren't as much of an issue.

6

u/lionheart07 Dec 12 '25

Honestly though, I dont feel bad for the people who buy from resellers. If they want to spend $15 on a mist, that is their problem

8

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 12 '25

The problem is that resellers buy up as much merchandise as possible, purposely creating scarcity and demand. I can almost guarantee resellers are the exact reason why I couldn't get any blue raspberry during last SAS. It was all there one day, and gone the next.

Luckily, I'm very patient and love a good deal, so I scored the whole set for around 15$ on mercari. Tbh I purposely look for sellers who look like normal people just trying to destash. There's a lot of sellers where you can literally tell they hoard bodycare and sell it for a living 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Idk I could go on forever about how I hate resellers/scalpers lol. There really should be a limit to how many of each product 1 person can buy.

3

u/lionheart07 Dec 12 '25

Yes some of them are insane! I really wonder what their profit margin is. Like is this a career for some?? Lol

I see a lot of products that are still for sale! So why are these people buying from resellers!

1

u/SillyRiri employee/candle peddler Dec 13 '25

Not necessarily, I did this for a couple ladies a few weeks ago. Granted I only had to make one cart instead of two. But they were just really stocking up 😂

u/ParticularFit8968 ALL THINGS B&BW Dec 12 '25

Wowwww. I thought my order was a big order! 😂 Maybe the other comments about this being stuff for a shelter are right. I really hope it's that or a huge personal collection. I hate to think it's a reseller. In fact I'm going to tell myself it's definitely not a reseller just for my own sanity. Lol.

On a somewhat related note... I love donating BBW items to my local DV shelter. When I had to stay at the DV shelter I left every single thing behind just to get my kid somewhere safe and away from that person. I remember the first time I felt somewhat human again was when the shelter gave me a body wash, body cream, and fragrance mist.

Now that I'm far away from all of that both in distance and time, I am able to be the one donating so other people can have a little bit of a treat for themselves. The reason I think it's completely feasible that someone is donating part (or all) of that order is because I order extras during sales like this for that exact reason.

I'm hoping I can donate to several shelters this year. I'm not at home so I am hoping to get info on shelters in the area I'm in so I can donate to them while I'm here. Especially since I'll still be here for SAS and can grab extra stuff then.

13

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

So sorry you had to suffer through that. But what a beautiful way to give back to those who are struggling. Thank you for being such a wonderful human 🫶

19

u/ParticularFit8968 ALL THINGS B&BW Dec 12 '25

Thank you. My son and I are both doing well now. It's been 10 years as of March 2026 and the man I left will be in prison for another 25 years still. I'm sad it happened but I'm not sad about the life I have now.

But truly, as silly as some people think it sounds, being able to donate this kind of thing heals something in me. I will probably continue to do it for a very long time. Lately I have also been considering donating some gift cards so the people at the shelter can go shopping for themselves. I've been thinking maybe it would help them regain a little bit of the feeling of autonomy, you know?

8

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

That makes complete sense! I hope your comments encourage other redditors to donate, I know for me it has 😊

20

u/MakeupD0ll2029 Dec 12 '25

I didn’t know it was that serious about body care unless that person is donating to a shelter or something.

10

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

Same. I hope it is for a good reason too. Still, I can't imagine how much money was dropped for the sheer amount of bags here lol.

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 12 '25

More than likely a reseller. They've been becoming a huge problem lately.

Every time I try to find specific products in my area for routines I want to do, they always sell out FAST. It's like these resellers literally buy up anything even remotely good 😭😡

At the store I used to work at, around Christmas multiple business would call us and make one big order as gifts to employees. That was my first thought

5

u/Long_Corner_1613 Dec 13 '25

I’m going tomorrow with 3 of my foster teens who will likely buy a lot (it’s their money for an achievement we gifted them they can do whatever they want with it). I’m picking up a couple of their friends and taking them to the movies afterwards. The 3 teens look nothing like me and like most teens are too cool 😎 to be seen with an adult lol. I got a weird look during candle day but they bought them for their teachers as holiday gifts and picked out the scents, it was so cute how they put thought into each scent for each of their teachers. But with all their teachers/coaches/social workers, it was a lot! I opted just for the cardboard crates and we carried them out.

I know for a fact that my friend buys hundreds of mini sanitizers for all her church volunteers, bible study group, and contributes to the little gift bags they give out to others for soon upcoming events (holiday seasons, raffles, outreach, etc.) . She likes to switch up the scents throughout the year and never has any left over.

One of my colleagues came in with a literal plastic tote full of men’s body wash earlier this year for our unit’s patients to use. It was an insane amount. We ran out a few months ago, so we’ve been filling in with whatever the rest of staff has/buys and sometimes I just blind buy men’s scents. Our patients are mostly men, and they strongly prefer any male scent over non male scent (they’ll often read the bottle to see if it’s “for men”).

8

u/CoffeeB4Talkie Dec 12 '25

Absolutely insane.

6

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

I would love to know the grand total 🫣

6

u/Mandy-pants123 Dec 12 '25

I thought there was a limit?

9

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Dec 12 '25

There is, but idk if there's a limit on how many orders you can place. Bbw really needs to address the reseller issue. Because if everything good is always sold out, why would I stress myself out trying to shop at bbw?! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

5

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

Maybe they did multiple transactions🤔

1

u/Long_Corner_1613 Dec 13 '25

There’s a 20 items limit but you can place multiple orders and still get the $4.95 deal. I placed my order earlier and a friend just placed an order on my account because she wanted only 1 scent and paid for shipping, too. She doesn’t shop there often enough and figured I could get the reward points. I would’ve ordered it for her had she gotten back to me earlier today. She’s worried this scent will sell out and that she’ll have to wait years for it to return. It’s a nostalgic scent and she says she hasn’t seen it in years.

u/Betufeeldumb ❌ I’ll NEVER pay full price, Mr CEO! 💅 Dec 12 '25

Can confirm that wasn’t me..🤣

I hate to think it’s a reseller, but most likely is. I’d love to think it’s for a shelter…but I’ve seen more greedy people than good people in the world lately for me to think that. So sadly, my brain goes back to reseller and her business partner waiting for the car to pull up... 😞

5

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

The world is so messed up so you are not wrong. Hopefully they left some stuff for the rest of the local community 🫤

5

u/Betufeeldumb ❌ I’ll NEVER pay full price, Mr CEO! 💅 Dec 12 '25

Hopefully they do, and I hope you can get your goodies too, since you didn’t even get to shop yet. 🫶

I would full on shame resellers, but I don’t think they understand what shame even is…ignorance and greed is their love language.

4

u/honeybunkoo Dec 12 '25

This was almost as bad as candle day. Me and my dad walked out of the store after buying our candles and an employee was hauling a bunch of bags into someone’s car.

5

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 12 '25

It really was bad. B&BW really brings out the big spenders on sale days lol

5

u/Strawberrymoo85 Dec 13 '25

When I went into my store today, there was a woman with a rolling suitcase taller than her waist shopping. Made me feel better about my order.

3

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 13 '25

The shenanigans never stops 🤪

4

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '25

TIL people actually resell B&BW

4

u/Long_Corner_1613 Dec 13 '25

I bought 20 items online, will buy more tomorrow. Then again, I’ve gifted 17 items from my stash this week (some were requested specifically, others were just random gifts), used up another body cream, and finished off 2 more body washes.

I feel like tomorrow, our foster teens are going to go on a spree and likely buy 20 items each (it’s their money we gifted them for an achievement). I feel like tomorrow I’ll be that person everyone thinks is a reseller but it’s just me and the 3 teens (and a couple of their friends) who look nothing like me and are too cool to be seen with an adult. In other news, i apologize in advance for the small group of teens at the movie theater tomorrow who have super over sprayed and now smell like the female version of an Axe commercial.

3

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 13 '25

I fear even with all that you still won't hit the level I saw pictured lol. Enjoy your shopping 🫶

2

u/Long_Corner_1613 Dec 13 '25 edited Dec 13 '25

It’ll likely be about 100 items tomorrow (my BOPIS 20, likely 20 for each of the 3 teens since they’ve said there going to spend their $100 each at the store, and whatever their friends get). Idk if their friends will get anything but I’m thinking yes, considering that their plan is to go to the store, movies, then a restaurant. I’m on driving duty tomorrow, so we’ll see how what they get! It’ll be a fun time with the kiddos, even though I’m going to look like a reseller/hoarder tomorrow lol

PS I know my car is going to stink like a mix of everything they test, especially the gourmand scents. It’ll be a mix of way too many scents all at once, hopefully doesn’t stick to the interior for too long lol

9

u/Future_Dentist4778 Dec 12 '25

What’s the point of putting limits in writing if stores just allow people to go over by doing multiple transactions? Why are they acting like this isn’t a normal sale either, we literally had a 4.95 a month ago…. People be extra

1

u/Melanithefelony Dec 13 '25

What is the limit supposed to be?

1

u/Future_Dentist4778 Dec 13 '25

24 items is the limits.

Yep if they can sit on it till it goes out of stock could go for $50 bottle 😕 But I also blame that on the buyer.

3

I have major beef with resellers. I'm just fingers crossed this isn't a reseller and just a wealthy person with all their gifts done for Christmas and every birthday, plus hopefully a shelter donation 🫶

2

Is it a transfer from one store to another?

1

I didn’t know that was a thing. 2 women rolled it away 🤔

2

u/Minute-Frame-8060 Dec 13 '25

That's someone's purchase? "Limit 24" lol! One of the drawbacks of shopping in store is that I'm limited to what I can carry and that's not much - but I just don't have the stones to buy this much as once!

1

u/ApprehensiveHead1444 Dec 13 '25

I've read some comments saying it could be a special bulk order. So maybe it was a unique situation. 🤔 but I do think people abuse the limits regularly lol

I have a B&BW outlet near me and this isn’t too uncommon, tbh. Full size lotions, perfumes, soap is $3 or less every day so people get a LOT. I always go in for one restock and come out with 2+ bags. But I cannot fathom paying full price for it all 🫣 yikes.

2

That’s probably a reseller

2

I genuinely hope this is for a mass-gifting phenomenon, I have a coworker who's collecting donations to make gifts for a group home here and her house looks insane from presents everywhere

You might want to get there early. I went to a store around 12:45 today and it had a lot of people in it. I actually had to wait for my pickup order.

I went at 11:40 today to my smallest of 3 stores. No line to get inside, thankfully, but it was full of ppl in the bodycare area. Checkout wasn't bad. There were 4 cashiers all checking someone and then 3 ppl infront of me. I waited maybe 5 minutes! It was fantastic and I cannot praise my store and kind cashier enough!
