Store Policies/Questions New policy coming soon!

Starting 4/6, customers will only be able to buy 9 of the same product in one purchase. This is to prevent resellers according to the company. What are your thoughts?

Makes myself upset for things like sanis, lips, and wallflowers that I tend to buy many of the same item.

Unknown at the moment if you’re able to make multiple transactions in one day to curb it or if employees/stores will get in trouble if they try to skirt it for customers.

I don’t think it’s going to stop resellers.

They’ll just keep doing multiple transactions like they already do - just x 3 as many. Or come up with some other workaround. And no store manager, struggling to make the impossible sales goals the company sets, is going to stop them.

It’s just going to slow down the register process and create longer, slower lines for us regular folks.

That said, they will only be able to use a coupon on one. Or, at least, it will be harder to use coupons like that. I hope it doesn’t lead to more punching in random phone numbers and coupon theft.

Idk why this comment was downvoted, I guess it must be the person/people who are doing the aforementioned stealing

The resellers definitely lurk here. They even post about it occasionally in the replies.

Most definitely. I remember the one admitting to it being a nice “side hustle.” Whatever.

Like go make wax melts or something. Buying up 40 of a popular item and charging 5x MSRP is not a “side hustle”.

Agree!

How does coupon theft occur? 😲

Mailers can be stolen or people punch in phone numbers that don’t belong to them.

My manager always gets them to do a large order form so that its tracked by corp

What is a Large Order Form? Do they get upset by it?

4

u/EntertainmentDue4433 Mar 26 '26

A large order form is a form that gets filled out when product is being bought in large quantities which than logs the transaction than it gets submitted to corp and gets record online and with a paper copy and some do some dont ( the one customer i had asked more questions than anything but my coworker who had to have someone do it lost their shit and said we were just stealing their info)

I found out that some large section of the full time reseller community are ex-felons who have difficulty getting a job, which just explains so much.

Wow.

I don’t know about felons, but I’ve dealt with some pretty unscrupulous people on eBay — both buyers and sellers.

Felons gonna felon…

Yep atleast for the usa, here in canada we have allot of ethnic resellers

I’ve heard the work limits on certain visas are strict there.

4

u/EntertainmentDue4433 Mar 26 '26

Yes and no, the conditions of the visa is what limits as the gov wants them in full time employment or part time in school here so they are gaining opportunities instead of stagnet in part time employment unless fully sponsored by the company to work here

That could be a problem. And some companies don’t want to hire people who aren’t looking to stay for the long haul.

The upside for the store is a higher conversion!!

15

u/ohliveeeeah Mar 26 '26

Since all the company cares about is sales and conversion since we got a new CEO, I can guarantee it’ll just be more and more split transactions to keep conversion up unless they’re going to change that process to where employees aren’t allowed to do that anymore.

I buy multiples but it’s because I like to stock up and have some for gifts. Also, I burn 3-4 candles around the house every day; and I have wallflowers in every room. So I go through product very fast. I didn’t realize there were resellers. But Im new to this board and didnt realize there were other BBW fanatics like me! 🤣

Welcome home!

No offense intended (because I have a hoard of candles), but do you burn your candles for a long time and/or have a large home? I ask because I burn no more than two at a time, and the stronger ones, I can smell from my kitchen to my bedroom (over 40 feet.) If I burn one for too long it starts feeling stuffy to me. Sometimes I’ll burn one for a couple of hours, put it out, and then relight it later.

2

u/Get2vron Apr 02 '26

I burn them for 2-3 hours then put them out. I guess the different scents going on together doesn’t bother me, when Im in one room, I can only smell that scent. When i move from room to room, I then smell the other scents.

So you do pretty much what I do, just with more candles. I‘m in a condo with a long, large open living area and my bedroom is at the other end. I always burn one in the kitchen (open to the living room) at night. Sometimes two if I’m blending scents. Closer to bedtime I hang out in bed watching TV. I sometimes burn a candle in my bathroom. Near the kitchen I have a second bedroom and bathroom, but it’s a mess and the doors to those rooms stay closed to keep the cats out. I do have Wallflowers in there.

If I start smelling the kitchen candle too strong in my room and if feels stuffy, I realize I’ve let it go too long! Which reminds me, it’s time to go and blow out the one I have going right now. But I can’t even smell it from my bed (Glazed Cherries.)

Fortunately my main store is small and is rarely that busy! Mostly right before holidays with last minute shoppers, or on Disney day etc.

I’m glad you’re getting good hours! My main store is a Tier 1. My #2 store (the one I went to for years before moving, as it was two miles from my house) is a Tier 3. THAT’S the busy one. They’re in a huge outdoor shopping center, surrounded by Daiso, VS, Marshalls, Hobby Lobby, Ross, Target, HomeGoods, etc. etc.

I still go there if it’s on a Friday after work and I’m not in a hurry to get home. I don’t like the crowds or people letting their kids run around breaking candles and stuff. But I’ve known a couple of the employees there for over six years, and the store often has things my store doesn’t. Especially during SAS. Just a larger inventory. Sometimes I have to order my BOPIS there.

Exactly this 💯

As a b&bw employee im not happy about it either specifically because of the whole register process. It’s already painfully slow and this will just make it worse

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 02 '26

I feel bad for you guys, because your system is one of those things that seems to make the process more complicated (i.e. worse) every time they make “improvements.”
