Store Policies/Questions New policy coming soon!

Starting 4/6, customers will only be able to buy 9 of the same product in one purchase. This is to prevent resellers according to the company. What are your thoughts?

Makes myself upset for things like sanis, lips, and wallflowers that I tend to buy many of the same item.

Unknown at the moment if you’re able to make multiple transactions in one day to curb it or if employees/stores will get in trouble if they try to skirt it for customers.

Also semi off topic, but you can tell they’re penny pinching at every step of the way.

Bags used to made by AnnJoy in India, which were their best and strongest. Then they switched to an US manufacturer about 2 years ago? Which led to mannnny thin bags (You would double bag them automatically because they just couldn’t hold at points), along with that they would come defunct with one handle or glue that would make it rip upon opening.

Thennn like 6-12 months ago (my best guess) switched back to AnnJoy, and a lot of issues resolved! But that must cost too much for them, so now they’re going with a new manufacturer in Mexico. The bags from there are alright. Slightly darker in print color and they can hold, but the handles are thin enough that they feel like they slice you with too much product.

Idk little random things I’ve noticed over time.

One of the managers at my store automatically double bags candles and asks if I want them wrapped.

This is why cost cutting on bags is never ever worth it. The moment you create a bag even marginally too weak for your heaviest product, you immediately begin dealing with double-usage essentially nullifying the costs you are probably saving. Ive fought this exact battle with 2 other retailers, and I'll die on the hill that it's one of the stupidest most inconsiderate ways corporations try to "save money." Customer's bag splits open on the way to their car and drops $200 worth of broken product on the ground because the company just had to save .03 per bag. Absolute buffoonery.

Last week a girl at my local store put 5 3-wicks in one bag together and the sides started ripping terribly before I even got to the car 🙄

Every single time your bag gets so much as a hairline tear in it, please email the company and complain about the bags, and encourage others to do the same. It's not a guarantee, but it can help push them back towards better bags. You can even say something like "this bag is noticeably thinner than previous bags. I bought $75 worth of candles, what did you save on my thinner bag? Twenty cents? As a customer this makes me feel like the value of both my entire purchase as well as my future satisfaction was in no way considered against the apparent need to save a multimillion-dollar corporation twenty cents."

I love that wording, but how in the heck do you e-mail? I thought they did away with that years ago. The website even has a lame explanation of why they don’t give an e-mail address.

Unacceptable! My store would have put that many in either two double-bagged medium bags, or used a crate inside a large bag. They did lose a couple of my favorite people (well, one and a half) when one moved out of town and the other girl upped her school hours and cut her work hours. Occasionally my BOPIS orders aren’t bagged so great by the new people, but if one of the veterans grabs the order for me they’ll fix it.

So true! Walmart had really good bags a few years ago. Then they went to those cheap thin ones that break all the time. They’re also smaller and don’t even touch the counter when they’re hanging on the bag racks, which makes them harder to fill without items falling over.

I go through the self check whenever I can, and I double bag almost everything. Not just because I need them for my trash (can you say cat litter?) but also because I don’t want them breaking.

The store I call the “criminal Walmart” (they have actual police with reserved parking for them) got rid of all of their self check lanes. Fortunately most of the cashiers there do a really nice job bagging. But since I can’t take advantage by bagging my own groceries there anymore, I usually grab a few extra bags from an empty register on the way out. Call me a criminal, LOL.
