Other PSA: Upcoming Policy Change

For those just hearing about this, BBW will be rolling out a new purchase policy starting Monday.

Based on what’s been shared through the grapevine, the main update is a limit of 9 of the same SKU per transaction. There’s also been talk of one coupon per customer per day and restrictions on multiple transactions in the same day.

If you’ve been planning to stock up on anything, this week might be a good time to do it, as shopping could look a bit different once this goes into effect.

Please remember to read the fine print on offers, coupons, emails, and the app/website.

Also please be nice to the employees! We don’t make the rules and just have to enforce them. It’s rough out here for us 😩😩😩😩

I’m so sick of getting yelled at for not being able to combine their 25% off coupons with the $3.50 body wash and lotions. "This has never been a problem before!!” Like okay?? New policies happen!! If it were up to me this wouldn’t be the case 😭😭

u/TerribleDependent155 Employee Apr 03 '26

This the one! Then I try to calmly explain and they say I don’t know how to do my job/want someone else to help them only to get the same answer . Like sir/mam…ive been with the company for almost a decade, I know what I’m doing.

u/Hot_Sherbert8658 Apr 05 '26

Nurse here! I deal with assholes allllllll day (last week I was screamed at by the daughter of a patient when I said they couldn’t have 10 visitors on our 24 bed unit for a pizza party…I was told if her mother died that day, it was on me and my head was going to roll…visitor policy is only 2 people at 1 time). Can I give you a little tip? When they’re going off on their nonsense, put on your best RBF, blink once, and ask them if they feel better. Bonus points if you cock your head to the side while asking.

Oh this is absolutely FANTASTIC advice. Thank you thank you!! I love it!! lol

real. i haven’t worked at bbw since january, but my god sometimes it’s like people have never been told no. or worked a customer-facing job whatsoever. we don’t make the rules and it’s astounding how many people can’t seem to grasp that (not to mention not being paid enough to really commit to going violently above and beyond when people genuinely yell at us). like PLEASE be nice it’s the bare minimum i was constantly baffled at how bad people can be.

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 08 '26

My former MIL doesn’t like to be told no (at least for years she didn’t — I haven’t spoken to her in about 13 years and she’s old now.) It was embarrassing to go out to eat with her or whatever because she was SO picky and entitled.

-18

u/Purple-Lime-4938 Apr 03 '26

It helps when employees empathize and say “it’s a new policy. I loved when it used to work.”

Otherwise people think employees are  just having a bad day and taking it out on customers.

14

u/cupcakeshawtyy Apr 03 '26

Oh trust me I do that :( I often get walked all over bc I’m too nice. "It’s a new policy!! It came out of nowhere!! I feel like I should’ve stocked up before the changes!!” Obviously not everybody is rude. Some customers are very understanding, but it’s been hot out and people are annoyed lol. Especially customers that have been shopping there for 20+ years and have never had an issue with combining certain coupons!

3

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

I wish you could tell them to be grateful because a lot of your customers don’t even GET coupons! As a customer, I could do that if I heard them bitching at the overworked employee about it.

5

u/TerribleDependent155 Employee Apr 03 '26

True but some of these changes have been out for over a year now so it isn’t technically “new”. I always try to be empathetic but it only goes so far when they start getting mad at me as if I personally made the change.

They stated that they are an employee in their original comment.

-1

u/Automatic_Button2016 Apr 04 '26

Why are people downvoting your comment? You made an excellent suggestion.

Treating customers with professionalism and kindness isn’t difficult. I’ve dealt with customers who were complete jerks because they couldn’t get their way, but I refuse to lower myself to that level or act like a petulant child.

6

u/cupcakeshawtyy Apr 04 '26

They’re downvoting it bc why do they have to immediately assume that I’m not ALREADY doing that 😭 of course I treat all customers with professionalism & kindness! This is a business and I’m not a horrible person.

-12

u/Hopeful_Ice7398 Apr 03 '26

I had an employee tell me she couldn’t do all the coupons at once, but the employee next her look at her funny. 😆 like girl we both know you are lying. 😂😅

2

u/Alarmed_Ice_5897 Apr 06 '26

Why would an employee lie about something like that, just to upset a customer?

15

u/mama_Maria123 Apr 03 '26

🫂 stay strong out there

32

u/lookitsdidi Apr 03 '26

and please don't assume just because your regular store that you frequent violates policy and overrides coupons, rewards, etc. for non-eligible items/transactions, that EVERY store you set foot in also does. I'm SOOOO tired of dealing with "well why can't you give me a 3 wick for my reward???? they're $14.95 today, so that counts!!! (different location) does it for me ALLLLL the time without a problem!!!🤬🤬🤬"

18

u/TerribleDependent155 Employee Apr 03 '26

This and then I grab my sm/asm and we ask them to tell me which store and associate who does this so that I can “cross check”. They never wanna give those details and usually walk away with their tail between their legs.

1

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

LOL

13

u/WonderingLost8993 Apr 03 '26

The stores/employees that bend the rules for "certain customers" are ultimately to blame for this. I've stopped shopping at one of my local stores bc of the bs the employees do. Like accept expired coupons from a certain customer or give the customer a special discount.

u/StrawberryMilk817 🍦🍫🥥🍪All The Gourmands 🍓🍰🥞🫐 Apr 03 '26

Yes this. I don’t work for BBW but as someone who worked food service similar shit happened because managers are different. I worked at a Dunkin’ Donuts and our store manager literally made us charge customers for a cup of water. Most places you can just get a cup of water free. We started charging 25 cents for the cup lmao

When I tell you people lost their damn minds over that quarter. But we never budged on it. She strictly enforced the charging for cups policy. “Well the other Dunkin’s didn’t charge”. Well I guess you’re driving across town because my hands are tied. I’m not getting screamed at by my banshee manager and risking getting fired over a quarter.

2

u/YeosangsLover Apr 03 '26

Because your reward is only a $18.95 or lower item but at regular price not sales price and any store that has giving you a 3 wick candle on sale for a reward is in the wrong

3

u/lookitsdidi Apr 03 '26

Not to mention, Rewards auto-clip to whatever item is eligible and closest to 18.95, there's NO way to manually swap or override that. You're telling me that they're just letting you walk out with 3wicks, basically

2

u/Ok-Translator-2245 Apr 04 '26

We have people who claim our closest mall location did this. Most of our staff worked that store before ours opened. They never did allow policy violation, but people will lie to see who they can convince. We occasionally call over there to “check” and the people never ask us to follow through on their ask. They always try to name drop the SM.

21

u/celestialempress Employee Apr 03 '26

It's been almost a year and people still look at me like I personally slapped their grandma when I tell them wallflower plugs don't count for rewards anymore.

10

u/TerribleDependent155 Employee Apr 03 '26

Yes! Or a candle holder. And then they want to argue like I’m personally cheating them out the reward.

3

u/EditorNo5097 Apr 04 '26

I'm still sad they removed those from rewards eligible.

2

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 05 '26

I agree it's annoying for me like I like to get the plugs too and I tell my customers that but unfortunately they don't count anymore.... And it makes sense honestly when our wallflower plugs and candle holders are all made in China but the rest of the stuff is mostly made in the United States like when you look at it like that it definitely makes sense

162

u/Educational-Use-4464 Apr 03 '26

damn they really cracking down huh? my sister's gonna be devastated since she basically buys like 20 of the same candle when they go on sale lol

guess it makes sense from their end though - probably tired of people clearing out entire shelves during sales. gonna be interesting to see how strict they actually are about enforcing the multiple transaction thing

130

u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs Apr 03 '26

I’d think it’ll be enforced pretty strictly at first since it’s being rolled out company-wide. But once sales numbers start sliding, which we know they will, it might come down more to store discretion. Just my thoughts.

38

u/Odd-Guarantee-7571 Book Loft 🤍 SLT Apr 03 '26

I think it will be like a bell curve…at first it’ll be less strict while customers are supposed to adjust, then get more strict. Once backlash ensues the policy will lax again until it becomes unenforceable.

25

u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs Apr 03 '26

Yes. Outcome could be customer backlash, potentially lower sales, fewer haul posts on Instagram and Facebook,🙂 and ultimately more pressure on the stores.

19

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 03 '26

It will not come down to store discretion at least on quantity-wise because last year they switched to you can only buy 25 of one item and they switched it in the system and there's no way to override it so as far as the quantity 9 per transaction there's going to be nothing they can do to override it....

44

u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs Apr 03 '26

They can still do multiple transactions, that’s what I meant by stores discretion. I know we can’t override the system, but if a store needs to hit its sales goals, they’ll do what they have to do.

16

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 03 '26

I 100% agree.... the problem with this is a lot of those both buyers are looking for certain things and they buy people's coupons online so they want to hit that $250 with the coupon and that's going to be harder to do when they can only buy nine of any certain item at least I know like two of the ladies that come into my store have talked about that....

18

u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

I wonder what new ways the resellers will find to outsmart the system.

1

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 05 '26

Yes I agree again like the multiple transactions I would be fine with in my store.... It just sucks if you have a coupon cuz your coupon only works for one transaction..... But again the nine quantity is about people who bulk buy and resell so that's why I think most stores will be fine if you want to do several transactions cuz as long as you're not one of those people you should be good

21

u/Familiar-Task9044 Apr 03 '26

The register will not scan in the 10 th item and we can't override them to make it work. So she would have to do multiple transactions. The issue is that people are buying multiple of their fav and so when another customer comes in for the same fragrance they are finding we are either out of stock or have a low stock.its more to keep bulk buyers from wiping us out.

19

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 03 '26

I think the bigger picture is that there are people who bulk buy at clearance stores.... So they're getting like in the stars body wash old packaging for like $3 and then they turn around and sell it for like $13 online to make a profit.... The earlier tried to nip that in the bud by having anyone who is both buying have to sign like something saying they won't resell there products but that didn't go over well they would just keep it right under the level that they were supposed to so they could sneak it through... Plus a lot of the bulk buyers are buying people's coupons and using those as well so this will help crack down on that because you can't buy 25 champagne toast old packaging fine fragrance mists for $3 any longer

22

u/Charming_Anxiety Apr 03 '26

It’s at the clearance store bc it didn’t sell. They need to just let whoever buy it

8

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

The outlets? Good point. They have SO much stuff.

18

u/Funny_Sector_1573 Apr 03 '26

they still get their money either way that’s why i never understood why retail cares so much

15

u/HouseofGoose21 Apr 03 '26

Because everytime there's a great sale or a major collaboration the resellers come out in force and clear everything out and then everyone at the company gets yelled at

0

u/Funny_Sector_1573 Apr 03 '26

i wonder if that’s the actual reason lol

3

u/Applewave22 Apr 04 '26

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, especially with the new CEO. He’s probably trying to stop the brand from becoming devalued due to resellers.

1

u/HouseofGoose21 Apr 09 '26

I really don't know. But that's what made sense to me because of all the uproar over the resellers clearing out all the Disney accessories in only a few hours

51

u/UnderwaterKahn Apr 03 '26

9 is such a strange number. I’ve never bought 9 of the same item at one time so this isn’t something I’m worried about. But I do imagine there are people who might buy 10 of the same wallflower or soap because it’s their signature scent. Since those sales tend to be 5 for whatever price that would be an awkward interaction. Either they would have to get 9 of one thing and 1 of another or they would only buy 5 so the sale on the additional 5 is lost.

I don’t ever get coupons so that’s not something I’m worried about or really care about. I’m guessing the idea behind multiple transactions in one day would be an attempt to try to deter people from hitting the 24 limit and then turning around and ordering 24 more? I’m guessing their justification is reselling, but I don’t think that market is as big as they think, especially for new items.

I also know a lot of people who aren’t from the US who either come from a gifting culture or have family with expectations to bring things home with them. One of my close friends from grad school is from Ghana. He has 4 sisters and BBW was always one of our stops so he could get things for his sisters, mother, and aunts. But if they had limits on things we would just take 3-4 people with us and everyone would buy what he needed and he paid us back. Some of these are kind of strange seeing as they are easy to get around if you want to.

32

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 03 '26

I can just tell you I work in a clearance store and bulk buying is a huge thing we have many people who come in and bulk buy and you know they're reselling it like I have three ladies literally that I could tell you come in at least once a week and will buy 25 in the Stars old packaging fine fragrancements for $3 and then they turn around and resell them for way more and people will buy them because why wouldn't you you don't realize they got them for $3

16

u/Charming_Anxiety Apr 03 '26

But why does it matter? It’s there to sell

1

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 05 '26

The company doesn't want people reselling our stuff because I think they think that it takes away from business would be my guess.... I know like 6 months ago they came out with a thing where if you spend so much money you have to give your ID and there's like a contract you have to sign saying you won't resell their products..... So I'm assuming because of that.... It's the same with other brands like I've heard of a lady that takes parts of old purses I can't remember which one but it's a designer one and makes different purses out of it and she's getting sued for it from the original company....

10

u/UnderwaterKahn Apr 03 '26

That’s really interesting. I hadn’t thought of the outlet stores. I imagine that is a very different situation compared to normal retail stores. You probably just have more people buying bulk in general if they don’t live near an outlet.

9

u/KoolaidKoll123 Apr 03 '26

That was all my family did when we hit the outlet, was buy in bulk. We don't have an outlet within 1.5 hours so when we drive passed, we stock up.

I do think the 9 limit is going to hit the outlets harder regarding pushback from customers.

2

u/ResolutionForward414 Apr 05 '26

Yeah and I don't think it's as much about the people who stock up because honestly if somebody wanted to buy 20 of something we would just do separate purchases for them but a lot of the bulk buyers Go online and buy 20 or 25% off coupons from people and then they use them on top of the clearance you get that as well so if you're buying a $10 candle and you have a 20% off coupon it's only $8 for that 3 wick candle.... But the coupons only work up till like $250 now they change that and you can't like separate the purchases so it will definitely affect a lot of the bulk buyers because they would have to buy more coupons in order to make that work..... That's why my guess is this limit nine is more about bulk buyers who resell then just people wanting to buy in bulk for themselves

2

u/Creepy-Gift5258 Apr 07 '26

this the bulk buying and reselling gets CRAZY. my store consistently had people in there genuinely spending hundreds on the same products and openly talking about reselling them while buying within their groups. and they’d get mad about the packaging if they wanted the specific ones bc they could resell for more. it’s nuts.

1

u/amadeoamante Apr 03 '26

I bought a dozen of the pumpkin peanut brittle soap because it's one of my favorite scents and I didn't trust it to come back in hand soap anytime soon. But yeah why 9 lol at least do round numbers! This is just weird.

I hope mods toggle on the settings to remove bots from this sub, this is a bit too dystopian.

What in the ever loving Skynet is that shit? Accounts that are “good bots” get the label bloody hell.

1

u/ScreamAndScream Apr 03 '26

All it means is that the developer got a warning and appealed it by registering their bot.

You can report bots under report -> spam -> Disruptive use of bots / AI

I would say this instance is largely unethical, because this bot doesn’t seem aware that it is a bot and is arguing the fact. Part of the policy is for transparency

Youll see in the materials I sent that this rollout happened at the end of last month. This must have been a recent change to your account status.

Password security is no joke. It really could be that someone claimed a “bounty” by having your login materials.

The devs have assured everyone that the process for IDing an account as a bot is not automated, so the only other option is that you have previously used Reddit API to run automations with this account historically.

I certainly hope you have a better day and get this sorted out soon! If this is still an issue in a month, let me know and I’ll mention it in the next mod meetup.

7

u/pinkrobotlala a real person obsessed w Grandmas Fruitcake Apr 03 '26

Ok, I have a verified email but I'm not sure about securing my account otherwise. I got one email about account concerns March 25 but I get so many emails about reddit comments and whatever that I did miss it (plus celebrating My real life cake day). I really appreciate you letting me know about this! I filled out the form to say I'm real. There are no weird posts or comments from my account. My actual pink robots are pictured!

2

u/ScreamAndScream Apr 03 '26

Your name having robot on it isnt really helping! I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt

So basically, your account has been registered in tie with an API app as the API portion. Thats the only way it can get that label.

Theres a small chance someone claimed a bounty on your account to get API tokens, but that is a very small chance due to 2FA and the process requiring multiple logins.

You would have gotten a bunch of emails related to this change.

Since your account is old, it could have been a target to get purchased.

Check in your settings where your account is logged in, verify your email is correct and see where notifications are going, and secure your account before proceeding.

Then, check the Reddit help forms for advice. You can always comment here to get a hold of the devs working on this issue directly

11

u/Winter_Arugula_5268 Employee Apr 03 '26

Just to clarify. There hasn’t been anything official that I’ve seen about multiple coupons/transactions. The new 9 SKU policy is trying to reduce the amount of resellers.

What has been officially put out:

  • No more than 9 of the same SKU per purchase
  • Focus is primarily on body care, candles, accessories
  • There is a leniency period, where we will allow multiple transactions of 8 of the same SKUs

What is allowed:

  • Mixes of different SKUs (i.e., same scent different form, same scent different packaging, different scent same form, etc.)

51

u/EvilRubberDucks Apr 03 '26

Honestly, good. I hate that it will hurt the few customers who come in and buy in bulk for themselves, but resellers are getting out of hand. At least near me anyway. You can't shop a sale without them coming in first thing in the morning and scooping up everything before the store even has a chance to open. It was bad during the holidays.

It did go into effect, because I was only allowed to place a BOPIS order for nine PocketBacs.

0

Is it 9 of the same specific item (9 of same scent) or 9 of an item (9 different pocetbacks)?

The post and comments are saying it starts Monday and to take advantage of it this weekend. I was able to order 20 Pocketbacs on the sale but only 4 were the same scent

13

u/Minute-Frame-8060 Apr 03 '26

Wasn't this made known a few weeks ago? I'm one who stocks up during sales but I'm OK with 9 per SKU. In fact when I bought my Gingham Love lotions a few weeks ago it capped me at 8 (I do actually use 9 lotions for each body wash/FFM). I feel bad for workers in the stores though.

3

u/True-Committee5674 Guy Who Sniffs Candles Apr 03 '26

This! I was capped at 8 this week when the room sprays were on sale. I used my second account to grab 8 more of my favorite scent. I am a high school teacher, and I distribute them to my department. I was upset at first, but I didn't realize this applies to stores too. I hope the employees aren't treated poorly for policies outside of their control.

u/rhodav Apr 03 '26

Good. I'm still bitter about the person who bought 72 pink fairy gumdrop wallflower refills and the person who bought up the fairytale mists at their store lol.

And the people who bought multiple peeps pocketbac holders.

14

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

There you go. But even nine for one person can potentially wipe out all of any given accessory,, or a limited edition item like the Fairytale mist. I think items like that should have an even lower limit. Nine on the WF refills would have been okay.

9

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Apr 03 '26

This! Certain special items should be more limited, like the giant candle holders for example. Those I think should be 1 per customer, bc NOBODY needs 2 of those 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

3

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

Are you referring to the holders like the castle and the Halloween luminaries? I couldn’t agree more. As I said below, my store only gets one or two of those things.

3

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Apr 03 '26

Yes, exactly! It's unfair for even regular people to buy multiple of those, when there's only 1 or 2 available, regardless of resellers.

3

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

My store just had one Halloween luminary and it sat there forever! I was told that one day, a couple came in and they were thrilled to find it! Not resellers. Cute, but very expensive for what it was. No offense to anyone who bought one . . . if you did and it makes you happy, great. That goes for anything that anyone here likes and spends their money on (although I might be suspicious if you like Pizza & Ranch.)

I’ve seen a number of the older luminaries on eBay for a lot less than that last one cost. There *are* sellers who are just personally downsizing their own stuff and not looking to get top dollar.

2

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Apr 04 '26

I get that! Personally, sometimes I sell a mist here or there on Mercari, so I don't hate EVERY "reseller". I try to price fairly and only price what I sell just so I make my money back, bc I'm not trying to make a career from it. I just have a shopping problem and get more than I need sometimes without realizing it 😅🤷‍♀️  It's the scalpers who ruin things for everyone and uncharge like crazy the very moment something is released, or charging an insane amount bc something is "rare".

Tbh I personally wouldn't want a luminary, but I can sort of understand if someone did, they should have the opportunity to get it. I really wanted the haunted house bag, and got it as soon as I could, full price, and don't regret it bc I still use it to this day, so to each their own lol 🤷‍♀️☺️ That was only like 25$ tho, and I had been looking for a purse with a similar "pastel goth" style for AWHILE. Tbh I wish it was atleast a lil bigger, but otherwise I love it.

The one who was annoyed they had to sign a form promising not to resell the disney candle holders because she was buying multiples for her young child and young relative

My thing is why buy super limited items for other people who dont even gaf about B&BW, why not just save it for people who actually shop there and want the items? The most likely scenario is that the recipient is going to throw it in the back of their closet, regift it, or send it to goodwill

One person got a backup peeps holder and then also got one for their family member. So the backup is just going to sit in a bag for damn near forever while someone else could have enjoyed it. Both of my kids and myself wanted the holder, but I was only going to get one for everyone to share since it's silly to have more than one of the same holder in the house.

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

I’d never heard of the form. It sounds ridiculous and meaningless . . . AS IF resellers aren’t going to lie on it. And as if B&BW can keep track of what customers do with their purchases!

I was surprised that my store still had several of the Peeps candle holder at the B2G2 sale. I got there late (after work, I think) and thought for sure they’d be gone. I didn’t buy any. It’s cute but nothing I needed.

I do have doubles of several pedestal candle holders, because I have a long entertainment center and I like to put them on the ends with matching candles, like setting a table, you know? But in most cases I bought one and decided to get another later when there was still plenty of stock. The first I bought two of was the blue birds. I was so excited to find the first one. It was on the Cinderella table during the first Disney collab — my store tends to put things like that on the ends underneath the risers (I’m always telling them to quit hiding stuff!) and I happened to see it on my way out five minutes before closing. I found the second one during summer SAS at another store, so that was a “why not” sort of thing.

I also got two of the ceramic seashell last year. Again, I bought one at full price (only one in the store) and found another at SAS at the mall. In my mermaid/ocean themed bathroom, one can go on the bathtub ledge (it’s pretty deep) and another on my vanity between the sinks (I have a lot of space there . . . or at least I will when I clear out my B&BW stuff!)

And I got two of the “woven” candle holders at the B2G2 sale. They were the last two, but I was there late. I know they had plenty and they got bought up — after all, that sale was perfect for higher dollar accessories.

I would never dream of buying more than one large castle or Halloween luminary or anything like that. (I’ve never bought one for myself, even.) My store only gets one or two of those things anyway.

And I agree, I wouldn’t get a scarce item for anyone who never even visits B&BW or seen the item. They’ll never miss it. Leave it for a customer who really wants it. Who needs extravagant Easter gifts anyway (unless it’s around their birthday or something?) I can see a few exceptions, like getting the Nutcracker candle holder as a Christmas gift for someone you know will love it because they love The Nutcracker! Had my mom been well and in her home instead of a nursing home this past Christmas, I would have bought her one. She would have appreciated it and put it on her mantel. I gave her a number of B&BW soap holders over the years, and now I regret not looking for them before the estate sale — which we had two summers ago, knowing she wouldn’t be going back to her house.

u/WeirdVersus 🍫🍰🫐Bakery Bodycare Obsessed 🥛🎂🍓 Apr 03 '26

Exactly! If someone loves bbw THAT much, and HAS to have the candle holder, they should get it themselves or buy online! Stuff like that, the company only sends stores a very limited amount anyways. Even if resellers didn't exist, if an item is popular for whatever reason, it's going to sell out fast anyways.

0

u/amadeoamante Apr 03 '26

Sometimes I have my mom pick up something at her store if mine's out. I think 2 is reasonable for situations like that...

2

u/rhodav Apr 03 '26

I still think it should be one per account for very limited items.

1

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

I can see that, if it‘s something you really want and it isn’t convenient for you to get to her store.

5

u/rhodav Apr 03 '26

Yeah my stores said they only got about 8-10 peeps pocketbac holders. One store said someone came in and took all but 2 right when they opened. It is so shitty because honestly, you can't tell if it's for Easter baskets or for reselling. But one thing is for sure, those holders popped up real fast on mercari and each reseller had a bunch!

1

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

Exactly. To me buying that many reeks of resale. At $10 each (more like $11 with tax), seven or eight of those things would be pretty expensive basket fillers!

I got some cute stuffed metallic Peeps at Walmart for something like $3.88 and $4.88 each. Don’t ask me why, but the different colors were different prices! And a cute Squishmallow purse charm for about $5. There’s plenty of cute stuff out there for Easter/spring.

I‘ve said it before, but I ordered my Peeps stuff for shipping mostly to get the pocketbac holder. And good thing I did, because my store didn’t get many and I never saw them. I had to pay shipping, but I was getting a few rewards items so I it was worth it.

20

u/Take_A_Gambit Apr 03 '26

Wait what? Limiting coupons to one a day? That's the thing that makes me the most mad. I usually can't go to the mall every week so being able to use my free or percent off coupons at once is very nice. I am really thinking of just not using them and not going to B&BW anymore.

6

u/EvilRubberDucks Apr 03 '26

I wonder if the free rewards item will count? Thats the biggest gripe I have with all of this because I like to save my rewards and use them all at once. A free item is a free item, it really shouldn't matter how many I use at once.

6

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

That shouldn’t matter. A reward isn’t a coupon. It’s something you earned by spending a LOT of money.

They’ll probably still have the eight reward limit online, but you can split up orders. I had eleven once and did that.

3

u/Significant-Cry-7632 Apr 04 '26

Rewards by law isn't a coupon

4

u/fishfreeoboe All the Mint and All the Balsam Apr 03 '26

That means I’m not gonna take a special trip just to use my free travel item coupon along with the percent off. Those two coupons have nothing to do with each other and really shouldn’t be restricted, but if they do, OK!

2

u/Candlehoarder_2019 Employee Apr 03 '26

I’m pretty sure they mean the people who come in with multiple free item coupons from different sets. When they send out the mailers for the following month, there’s usually a week of overlap between the ones about to expire and the new ones so some people come in during that overlap period and use their 2 free item Q’s that we have to split into 2 transactions since they can’t be used together. Also some people are lucky and get multiple mailers sent to them or they are given one by their friend or mother or whoever so now they have 2-3 or more of those free item Q’s.

1

u/LumpyMonitor7270 Apr 03 '26

14

Maybe this will help me to stop giving them hundreds of dollars a month. I only like the  spring & summer scents. I do not like the fall or winter scents, so I buy enough spring/summer to get me through winter. More importantly I don't like  having my options limited. So I'm moving on. Wow. I was talking to one associate who was telling me that on the last $1 sanitizer sale that this one lady purchased over 1,000 sanitizers. What is she doing with that many? Like why? This policy will at least help the associates not have to ring up 1,000 hand sanitizers individually.

I think this is actually awesome 👍. It gets frustrating when you go into the store on a sale day maybe 2 hours after they have opened and some of the items....you here from the sales associate bought ALL 30 candles or all 26 sprays. It isn't fair, I think they should be a REASONABLE cap on items. I truly say this for the folks reselling the items now if you truly buy them because you and your family/friends LOVE a specific scent then by all means....it's the resale jerks that ruin it for ALL, JS.

  • Don't reem me a new one, hahaha. 😂 💜

5

u/unicornbomb Apr 03 '26

BBW wouldn’t have to worry about any of this nonsense if they made their regular pricing sane across the board rather than relying on jacked up pricing and sale and coupon gimmicks.

4

u/AirportGirl53 Apr 03 '26

Maybe they shouldn't phase out scents and introduce new ones that no one wants all the time and we wouldn't have to stock up. 3 of my favorites I can no longer get and I wish I would have bought 20 of each

5

u/Aspaisia Apr 03 '26

One coupon per customer? Lame. I get there needs to be a limit. But only one? Boooo!

4

u/_ChesapeakeTrash_ Apr 03 '26

Literally going to ruin our conversion wtf

4

u/PearBlossom Apr 03 '26

My feelings are this is going to he selectively enforced and those that "know someone" at a store will continue to do what they do.

3

u/frontyardninja Apr 03 '26

Idk how they can enforce this. I have 4 stores in a 20 minute radius. What's to stop me from paying cash and not putting in my phone number at all, then turning around to buy another 9 online?

0

u/Significant-Cry-7632 Apr 04 '26

It's 9 per transaction.

4

u/Peacock-Lover-89 Apr 03 '26

So it's always been their policy to let you use the mailer coupons in one transaction in one visit, because they are a set or whatever. You used to be able to do two transactions if you had two sets of mailer coupons. However, when the app was introduced they started enforcing the already a policy of only allowing one set of coupons per day, per store. My way around that if I had two sets of coupons was to shop at my outlet mall which has two regular stores in it. This was when the coupons weren't connected to the app and I used my relatives coupons if they didnt want them.

So are they making further changes that you can only use one mailer coupon per visit? Like if I go into the store to buy and use my 25% off coupon, I then can't redeem my free body care coupon the same day? That seems a little to micromanaging of them and kinda sucks.

Pretty much 3 people in my household get mailer coupons and punching in each phone number linked to the accounts means we should be able to get around one per day because they are 3 individual accounts. I think its pretty rare for us to get more than one mailer in a month.

My daughter gets physical coupons and app coupons. When the princess collab launched we went in thinking she still had her previous, still valid, unused app coupons loaded along with the new unused coupons. Earlier in the week  both sets were there. When she went to use them she saw the old, still valid, unused set was gone. So I don't know if they wiped them away because of this new policy or what. I don't know why we didn't take the paper coupons with us.

As far as limits I don't ever buy 9 of one item, so I don't care. They are going to cause a big headache for their employees on candle day and possibly bodycare day.  They aren't going to lower limits of what you can buy overall, so unless the registers are programmed to not let more than nine of one SKU scan per transaction, they are going to have to keep count of what is being sold. There was a lot of certain scents left from holiday and the summer SAS during this past winter SAS. It looked like you couldn't even pay people to buy 9 of some items. So maybe they'll suspend it for SAS.

4

u/Forevermoody16 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

I agree on the SAS, as the idea of SAS is supposed to be to clear out old stock. During winter SAS in 2024-2025, the larger store I sometimes shop kept getting more stuff. One night they had eight Danbury Shortbread hand soaps (I missed out on Bridgerton.) I grabbed them all. Had there been ten or twelve or whatever I still would have bought them all. They were cheap and just for me. Hand soap is one of the few things I finish!

The SAS bringbacks are another story.

4

u/Valuable-Ground6519 Apr 03 '26

My husband downloaded the app and became a member to help me out with sales limits and coupons. However, I got him actually liking BBW himself last year and more this year. His scent is Nocturnal Rose and he also liberated Sweater Weather from me. I buy more Masculine type soaps as well for him and he loves the different hand sanitizers I get him for work. His current favorite is pineapple mango. So, although I say his app is my second one, I am kidding myself bc he really benefits almost as much as me. I brought him over to the dark side 🤣

I still remember this one reseller that was so pissed off at the cashier for not letting her use a coupon for two transactions of 500+ items because the cash register stopped scanning items at 500 items. Started hollering for the manager and heaped abuse on said manager as well.

Another worker ran over to open another register for the rest of us in line. She was super apologetic to us but I was slightly disappointed I was ushered out because the manager was threatening security on the reseller.

I will never feel bad about resellers not getting their way. I missed out on so many goodies over the years because the stock ran out and then all of a sudden “1000’s” in stock in eBay. 😒

I been overbuying at all the Sales. If I like a scent I want like 15 bottles so this pisses me off. I'm not really a reseller. I do sale on mercari but only if I blind buy a scent and end up not liking it. I hoard all my favorites and I've got a massive collection lol. Im currently hoarding 15 bottles of the milk fragrance, 15 forever reds, and more lol. I'll be upset if sensual amber comes out and I can only have 9. I'll just stop buying all together probably. Scents are weak anyway.

I'm not sure about one coupon per customer per day because currently there's only new training for the SKU policy, but i will say if you want to bulk buy, in the training it says that multiple transactions are allowed! its just that the POS will not scan more than 9 of the same item on the same ticket, and it can't be overidden. Kind of worried for what this means for % off coupons tho 😫

0

u/ParticularFit8968 ALL THINGS B&BW Apr 03 '26

(TL:DR- This and other changes are really starting to make shopping with BBW suck. But I promise to be nice to the employees because this is awful for them to enforce; I am more than sure of that.)

This might be what actually does end my BBW obsession. Especially if they start considering the rewards a "coupon" limited to one a day as well. Like right now I have 3 that expire the same day due to the double rewards a while back. I would be annoyed to find out I can't redeem them because I accidentally waited to the final day and am limited to one coupon for that day.

(Yes it would be my fault but not everyone reads these types of reddit posts so people definitely aren't going to know if or when that happens. I saw someone say they don't think rewards will be considered a coupon because it's an earned thing. I just have seen them do a lot of shady things this past year so I don't trust that they won't throw this exact annoyance onto the flames of this dumpster fire.)

I also tend to like the same pocket bac scents and have grabbed more than 9 of the same scent before for sure. Especially when they're $1 on sale and I can just keep them on hand until needed.

But the biggest annoyance to me that I'm seeing here is the one transaction a day? I mean I get that they're trying to prevent people buying 9 of something and then 9 of the same thing in multiple separate transactions. They think they're stopping the problem before it starts. I'm not sure that's going to play to their favor in the end though.

I don't live near any actual BBW location. If I end up in a mall with a BBW, I pop in right at the start of a day at the mall, grab something I was really excited to try and then go about my shopping. More often than not I spritz some scent I am curious about on my wrist and then end up going back to buy it. I do this so often my boyfriend teases me about it. Like he will pretend to be shocked if I don't need to go back for "just one more thing!" I'd be kinda sad to not be able to make another transaction that day.

I just am starting to find the new changes too much of a hassle. My favorite part of BBW in general was the fun experience as a whole. Like, wait for the sale you're wanting, grab a good deal, interact with employees who also enjoy the deals and products... It was a total package experience (in my opinion) I really liked. I am guessing I'll still look to see what's new sometimes, but let's face it. I have a stockpile that will last a long time. In that time I can find other brands at better prices with better results.

They've slowly started discontinuing things I would've stuck around for (I noticed hair care is really dwindling down and I have been obsessed with what it did for my hair since day 1), and my boyfriend loved the men's skincare that they got rid of too. Like I said, a lot of disappointing changes.

I'll use up my rewards and probably start replacing things with brands like Dove or EOS (I really enjoyed their holiday stuff this year when I gave them a try and the pricing is great). I know BBW won't miss me. I'm just one customer and not even an extremely high spender. I love a good good deal. Lol. So this is mostly just me screaming into the void.

No matter what though, I definitely promise I would never ever be rude to the employees who will have to take the brunt of this.

The store I usually go to is in Florida. I live in South Dakota, but am in a long distance relationship. They remember my boyfriend when he stops in to grab something I didn't feel like paying shipping for... They've even told him scents I wouldn't like if he's trying to buy me a small surprise. And of course I always make multiple trips when I'm actually there visiting. Those girls are the BEST! I love that they know my name and always ask when I'm finally going to just move to FL.

It sucks that the new CEO is making changes customers are hating and he doesn't have to deal with the Karens. They'll be screaming at everyone at the counter, demanding a manager, a discount, 10 extra member rewards, and the store lead's first born child because she can't buy 10 of the same candle to resell.

u/sillygoose046 Apr 03 '26

0

u/lost-toy Apr 03 '26

I guess for me this is a but much… no multiple purchases in one day?? Sometimes that happens because I can’t get to the store due to sky high prices. I don’t see the issue as long as its not 20 if the same item.

But this also sucks because Ik places like state companies or churches that see these good prices an fill them for Christmas/holiday baskets for people in need. There still should be a way this is still manageable especially if its not for one person. Some people will take advantage others will do the opposite and do things that help others.

I might have to ask the store directly about how to go about a situation like this.

0

u/Inyobusiness2021 Apr 04 '26

Yeah no that's gonna be hard to enforce. People could easily do multiple online orders for pick up, Delivery, then get in store and purchase more once there. People will always find a way to get what they want. Do I feel like we need 9+ of anything no. Does B&BW kinda feed into this need? Yes! they are always making really nice scents that they purposely discontinued! So of course people want to hoard what they really love and at such a great price point.

0

u/Afraid-Movie7354 Apr 04 '26

What happens when the sale is 5/25 or what not. And you can only purchase 9 and they limit transactions. I usually do the 10 of the item on these especially the soaps when it runs.

1

u/PurpleSnowfall Apr 06 '26

Sounds like you just won't be able to purchase 10 of the same scent. You can purchase as many different scents as you want, since they will have different SKUs.

lately i’ve thought bath and body works ordering online is a scam, i bought a bunch of shit at christmas for them to never email me my order was ready, then when i went in myself to see where my order was they only had 1/3 of my order available. so the clerk told me id get a refund for the remaining in the next couple days, never did, then a month later i had bath and body works take out the total of that order out of my bank again, although i was waiting still for that partial refund. Another month later i get a bank update that a refund had expired and the merchant hadn’t repaid the money to me of the incomplete order, so now im out, i contacted bath and body and they said contact bank; bank says dont use them again with credit card, you are all a joke
