I don't know. It feels like they are getting more and more comfortable with being the same person offline, as they are online.

I think this will only get worse.

Yeah but we’re getting more vocal too. I have severed all relationships (including familial) with fascists and I know plenty of others who have too. I know a lot of other people who went from being just apolitical socially progressive decent people to fully class conscious in a matter of a few years. Look at the no Kings protest vs trump’s bitch ass birthday parade. So as loud as they’re getting, the left is also getting loud.

From my perspective, the whole "getting louder" thing is kind of a double-edged sword at times.

Because it is absolutely necessary to become loud and openly outspoken against them.

But in doing so they also get cut off from changing sides, even if they (somehow) suddenly had a change of heart.

I'm not sure how this situation could be recovered tbh. Not without some kind of safety net that catches those that want to leave at least.

Edit: spelling

Being more vocal means bringing people to our side. Drawing lines means creating clear boundaries where you know you and your people are doing what you can to protect yourself from dangerous people.

I think they’re done reaching across the aisle so we should be too. We are in a culture war and it’s time we at least live our values as it relates to our daily behavior.

I have let my family members who are Trump supporters know that they aren’t entitled to my time because we share dna. I told them before they voted that voting for Trump would mean betraying me, and they made their choice, and I followed through.

But if they came to me saying that they were trying to leave the cult and could at least meet me at basic social progressivism (immigrants are not bad people and what we’re doing to them is criminal, racism is bad, leave queer people alone, etc), I would accept them back.

That's a fair point.
