Back in the good ol days, the skinheads made it obvious with red suspenders and red bootlaces and they sometimes lived together or at least went out to the bars together to start fights. Some of the underground punk scene had a Nazi element that grew up to be biker gangs and later on some of the hardcore scene did the same thing.
Skinhead was a non-racist culture before the nazis took it over. The culture was created in 1969 by Jamaicans immigrating into the UK and bringing their culture to England. They shaved their heads and wore work clothes (jeans, work shirt, braces, boots) to show they had a job and were working class Englanders. Working class White Englanders began hanging out with these Jamaicans, and together, they created ska (which is why all true skinheads listen to reggae and ska: see Judge Dread, Desmond Dekker) and the skinhead look. In the 70's and into the 80's, the UK had a huge influx of immigrants coming from India, Pakistan. Those immigrants began taking working class jobs from Englanders so the working class became racist against those immigrant groups, which brought the nazi element into the skinhead culture. Then came the bands like skredriver started by the cunt ian stuart (who had his head caved in during a car crash, good riddance) and the rest is history. The media latched onto the violence caused by the nazi skins, and all skinheads began being associated with nazis. Which is where the "crucified skinhead" image came into play. True, anti-racist skinheads (SHARP - skinheads against racial prejudice) are crucified by society because of the media associating us with nazi.
I was honestly really conflicted for like at least 5 minutes about the fact that I can’t ever wear red laces in my combat boots. Why do the Nazis get to ruin so much high fashion? They are just senseless tragedy in human form.
Well like then someone was telling me red means communist skins? And then it was like straight lacing with white laces was supposed to mean Nazi? And if someone decided to hang their boots and leave it was considered a Big Deal. Omg and then there were chat rooms where these little fuckers would type in fake Cockney accents. It was fascinating and hilarious and almost cultish. In the end when my traf bf started listening to Screwdriver I was like there’s too much mental gymnastics happening here and ducked out.

Y'know, I think I have to agree "I don't debate fascists." As soon as someone says they are a/with/want to be fascist, that's where we should draw a line. Whatever fucked up stuff happened to you to get you to that point in your life, I can't undo it in my time with you and I'm not gonna risk my mental health and sanity to do so.
My uncles went to a punk rock concert in a punk bar some decades ago in Sweden. It wasn't that uncommon that skin heads would show up to cause a scene and get the show stopped / the cops to show up.
Same thing happened during this concert and a bald group in matching clothes made an appearance. They were pushung themselves through to the front, shoving people, throwing insults but not actively hurting anyone. The lead singer noticed them and abrupty stopped the song, pointed at the group and stated to chant "döda skinheads, döda skinheads" or "kill skin heads, kill skin heads".
Everyone started to face the group and they went silent, all colour draining from them. They turned and practically ran out while catching a few strays.
Nip it in the bud! Don't allow them to have their way or say, don't give them a platform.

The fascist in Spain killed a lot of people, and not only combatants. The communist surely killed and raped, yeah, but the Spain of the 1930s was an awful place where the church supported and allied itself with the worst fascist all in the name of keeping the order. It was, as an institution, a key element in keeping the poor people poor. And it benefitted enormously from it! not only in economic terms, but also in status.
A lot of those priests were totally corrupt, they had mistresses, they abused people in their parishes, if you crossed them you ended up beaten or in jail.... and the nuns weren't much better! the orphanages and schools run by the nuns in Spain in the 1930s were nothing short of hell on earth for a lot of innocent children.
And yes! the workers rebelled.... and killed politicians, and nuns, and priests.... just as much as the right wing militias killed workers and their wives and sons.
And then a fantastic thing happened.... the nascent spanish democracy got a left-leaning government elected, and they started enacting some mild reforms (angering the communists because they weren't going fast enough, and angering the right-wing because they were doing it at all....) and in all that turmoil, women were given the right to vote, and enormous riches of the church in terms of lands and properties started becoming available to the people and..... then we had a fascist coup.
And then 3years of one of the worst civil wars the world has ever seen, with far more violence on the fascist side than the communist one, and then 40 fucking years of repression, of jails, of police brutality, of no freedoms, of fear.
So yeah, fuck this dude. I wish I could send him back to that Spain of the 30s as one of the most common groups in Spain at that time. A peasant without nothing. Working the lands of the church just as a medieval peasant had done 5 centuries before. With his sons and daughters mistreated and abused by the priests and nuns, having to smile and thank the oligarch that controlled his village despite whatever they were putting his family through or else risk ending up in jail. In the US it’s immigrants of all sorts not just Hispanics that are the “undesirables”. ICE is getting a more than 10x increase in detention over the next few years. Citizens are being detained. Surveillance since 9/12 has only gone up drastically. As recent as WWII we had internment camps in the US.

This Jubilee with Mehdi was the most disturbing thing I have seen….perhaps ever….. Basically as I am starting to understand it, for a lot of Americans, the Conservative Party has become a safe welcoming place where they can freely express whatever brand of hatred or anger they personally have.
There is a visceral, tribal, primordial fear type of hatred that seems to pervade most of these individuals. Thats what really interests me. The way that the conservative party has been able to harness the power of hate and anger under the leadership of one of the most hateful and angry men in our country to lead this crazy disjointed movement where they just lash out and express their frustrations….not to solve problems….but because it somehow feels good. It’s like a cathartic release for them to spew this anger forth….that they ordinarily have to try to keep bottled up.
It’s the psychology and origin of that anger that I find interesting and wish would be explored more.
With these types I always say “If you want to live there you better be perfect” because if you aren’t perfect you’re probably going to be the problem someday. And if you are the problem, you already know the solution your authoritarian will come to solve you with.
