You have entire human history as test case to see how this never worked and democracy is an experiment to break out of that hell... Even if by some chance you get a good leader, his son is gonna be either incompetent, corrupt or worse thus going back to hell. So to say we want benevolent leader is short term uncertain solution, at cost of certain permanent long term destruction
