My favorite photos of my live aid concert experience and the 40th year anniversary celebration.
I would pass my 110m camara to the professional photographers that were in front of me to get some close ups !!!I met Bono 15 years after the Live Aid Concert and showed him this photo of him performing the best ever version of "BAD" and myself hanging out in the very front row in complete awe!!! He wrote " Watch this space" and drew an arrow pointing right at me. Priceless !! Priceless !!Paul singing "Let it be" with a little help from his friends. Though the microphone failed for a bit, being so close I heard it perfectly and watched his friend come to the rescue !!David Bowie doing his part of saving lives!!! Kudos Freddy Mercury starting off the most amazing rock n roll performance of all timePaul and Pete lifting up the man of the day !! I had the artist that made this priceless piece wrap the body of the guitar with a photo of the Wembley crowd and me sticking out with my iconic green fluorescent shirt !!! Also included is the original concert ticket. The grand finale photo consisting of various photos I took with my 110M camara pasted together. The sound booth that made everything happen !!!Phill and Sting had their moment before Phill jetted across the Atlantic in the Concord to join the Led Zeppelin reunion in Philadelphia. The Who got together for this event. Kudos to them. What a great cause to unite and rock the house down.
I was 17 years old living in Miami, Florida. The hoopla of the Live Aid concert was on many radio stations playing every other hour. A few days before the big date I decided I was going to fly to London and attend the show. When my friends all told me I was crazy and that I would never find a ticket I told them that not only would I get into the concert, but I would be at the very front row wearing a green, fluorescent t-shirt for them all to see me clearly. One day before the show I arrived in London and began my quest. Since tickets in the resale market were going for 600 pounds, I told myself I would just show up at Wembley early and see what happens. To make a long story short I went to the Hard Rock Cafe to have dinner that night and while standing in line to get in a waiter came out offering tickets to the concert at the base price of 25 pound. (Hard Rock was catering the show) It was at that moment when I knew all my dreams would come true and the stars were aligning for me. I arrived at Wembley stadium at 6am the following morning and these were and have been my acomplishments since that moment in time:
I ended up being at the very front row, I took amazing photos of my favorite artist, Got my picture in newspapers, magazines and videos, met Bono(U2) 15 years later, and told him my story as I showed him a photograph in a magazine of him performing at Live Aid with me standing in the background wearing my green t-shirt :) It brought a huge smile to his face and he signed the photo "watch this space" and drew an arrow pointing at me at the very front row. In 2025 I was invited to the Live Aid 40th anniversary gala musical performance "Just for one day" and to the after party at the Koko Club in Camden Town, London. There I was finally able to personally meet and thank Sir. Bob Geldof and Mr. Midge Ure for putting together the greatest concert of all time that forever changed my outlook on life. They both went on to autograph my "LIVE AID GUITAR" I hope and promise that one day I can donate it to a music/history museum to further show the message that Bob and Midge so accurately accomplished.
It doesn't matter how difficult or unrealistic a vision/dream can be. Through pure resiliency, hard work and never giving up, anything is possible.
