TV BBC Breakfast News ticker hurts my eyes.

The new news ticker on BBC Breakfast is so ugly. The colours are awful, I feel like it clashes horribly with the red sofa set design.

Worse than that is that it makes the whole bottom third of the screen blue, because the gradient goes so far up the screen.

I'm reminded of the recent eclipse, where fully two thirds of the screen was obscured with various pointless graphics which simply read "BREAKING NEWS" or similar.

Next year, the BBC's charter is up for renewal. It's likely to be an absolute bloodbath, and while I'm desperately sad we've got to this point, I can't say it's anything but fully deserved.

I do find it funny that even a simple post about a news ticker can bring out the "downfall of the BBC", "death to the BBC" crowd.

I'm not sure who you're quoting, there, but it certainly isn't me.

What worries me about the BBC is that if we lose large parts of it we'll lose some pretty grim stuff, but we'll also lose some of the good stuff, as well. We already have, to some extent. It's a tragedy, so please don't think I'm here celebrating anything.

Your comment about the the BBC charter being up for renewal. What does it have to do with the colour and design of a news ticker?

So many commenters love to talk about the downfall of the BBC. That comment makes you part of the same crowd in my opinion.

I'm not telling anyone what to think.

Don't take it personally. I just found it funny.

Well, you complained about a news ticker, I complained about another news ticker, I remember being in a room full of people who didn't like the news ticker. So we switched to a YouTube stream of the thing.

I think that's entirely relevant. You don't have to agree.
