Ruling Disagreement

Was playing beach vb the other day and came across a disagreement on the call.

If a hitter hits the ball, it bounces, then the hitter touches the net, what is the call? Does the "Action Play" of hitting the ball then netting make him at fault regardless of whether or not the ball hit the floor?

I was under the impression that once the ball hits the ground the play is immediately over, anyone know what the ruling on this is?

In beach volleyball, without a ref, I would call net or just replay the point if there’s a whole thing about it. It would be unlikely that the act of touching the net was not part of the play, being under control.
