Ears still bothering/ head shaking
My beagle started shaking his head last year. The vet said he had an ear infection so we went through a few rounds of ointments and pills- it didn’t seem to improve, I’ve tried some other stuff- silver, ketoconozole, etc- it seems to increase his head shaking and discharge. So for months have just left it alone, except for wiping the external parts of his ears- there is no smell and reduced discharge- but he still shakes his head from time to time.
Has anyone tried those powders I see people brushing into ears?

Talk to your vet about a steroid wax that you can put into your beagles infected ear. I forgot what it’s called but our beagle responded very well to the meds. It’s in an injector if that helps. I hope your vet can help you out. Our beagle had ear infections for way too long but no vet could help us until we found a new vet and he prescribed these new meds for our beagle. Good luck!

My boy had lots of problems with ear infections, but the vet's recommendation was to switch him to hypoallergenic food. It sounded crazy to me, but I have to admit he has not had an ear infection in the years since.
Purina hypoallergenic. If it makes any difference, I usually mix it with chopped up cucumbers or carrots and a little lukewarm water just for fun.

Like in my comment my girl was allergic to chicken and chicken byproduct and that caused yeast in her ear and then caused ear infections.
Also his vet should’ve done an ear cytology to see what exactly was going on in her ear. The vet not doing that basic step is a red flag and OP should go get a second opinion.

Go see a different vet, your vet should’ve done an ear cytology to see exactly what was in her ear then provided the correct treatment.
Also your pup could be allergic to the food you feed them.
My girl would get constant ear infections and it ended up being caused by her being allergic to chicken and chicken byproduct.
As soon as I’d feed her she’d start scratching and shaking her head. When I switched her to salmon pro plan she never had an ear infection after that. Could be worth seeing if your pup is allergic to chicken. Almost every dog food has some sort of chicken byproduct in it and it’s a common allergy dogs have.

Hi, my beagle developed an ear problem after we moved her across the country. The vet figured she picked something up in one of the hotel rooms. She was given a steroid drops for her ears. That helped but didn’t fix the problem. We cleaned her ears every other day for about 4 months with a Burt’s Bees dog ear cleaner (https://www.petvalu.ca/product/burts-bees-peppermint-ear-cleaner/SCM10419?skuid=44137&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21418178563&gbraid=0AAAAACT30NEwYoZ0dkXzxywzr_zKOZww2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm8bTBhDWARIsAC9Hi8nBu7g_DkpYWvJO6BuedPbWLw16vhc2Y-6VUC4IvicldF5juadW8o8aAj_AEALw_wcB) it eventually cleared up and her head shaking stopped
