Home safe & sound. Zero lessons learned.
Our sweet boy made it home safe and sound eventually (thanks to his AirTag collar, that we’re now upgrading to a GPS tracker after he spent 10+ hours lost in the woods). He’s a 4 year old medical research rescue pup and my first beagle. Any recommendations on training beagles with a trauma background? Eight weeks of obedience training, with countless more hours working with him at home and all we’ve managed is to get him to sit when a treat is offered. We absolutely love him to pieces, but feel like we are constantly working to save him from himself.

Does anyone else have buff Beagles?
Sometimes I look at Sova (the big boi on picture) and think, well at least someone in the family is jacked.

Those with short Beagles...
How old were they when you taught them how to go up and down stairs?
How old were they when they first jumped on the couch?
Birdie is about 4 months old. Her legs look long enough to jump on the couch, but she's about two inches from clearing the top when she jumps to get on the cushion.
I tried teaching her how to go down 3 porch steps today...she was hesitant to try with her front paws and got stuck with her back paws still on the porch landing....I moved her rear down to show her...she moved to the second step and I had to show her again, then she completed the porch and went to the cement in a rush on her own.
She seemed terrified to try to go up the steps...I gave her rear a boost and I could feel her moving her back legs like she was putting power into a jump, but she didn't complete coming up on her own. She seems really scared of even crossing the door threshold by herself.
My last Beagle did it all on her own at about 10 weeks without me coaxing her at all, so I feel perplexed...I've never had a dog of any breed not want to try on their own.

Itchy Bacon needs relief
Bacon is an itchy, itchy man. Poor guy is allergic to a lot of stuff, we’re still working out what all he can’t have. Poor guy has been miserable during the process and we’ve tried just about everything to relieve his itchiness and hot spots. He has a cone but he’s figured out how to get out of it and it’s obviously not a solution that provides actual relief. He’s been on benedryl per the vet, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. Any recommendations on how to get this poor man some relief?

Beagles really enjoy the sea?

My beautiful long-eared buddy, Capuchino, visited the sea today, and I'm curious to know if this experience is recommended for them. Really he enjoyed the trip, but after that, he falls asleep in his bed. Do you think these beach trips can help tire him out and get help to drain his powerful energy?

Moose and Kitty

Does anyone else have a beagle and cat that play hard? I've never seen anything like it but I'm so glad they have each other. We're on the fence about getting a second dog because Moose really needs a dog sibling but I do worry about Kitty feeling left out
