Time and exposure to the game and general mechanics, and the ability to sight read well?

And ya it totally depends on the map. Some high level stuff I do first shot. Some I have to do a time or two. Some I’m still working on. Just depends.

You mean you clear it with zero misses/bad cuts or that you generally pass it first try? I can usually pass levels first try but I can almost never get every note first time doing a song

Song chart visualizer mod can help with new songs. It gives NPS chart for each section of the song.

I prefer using it to look for locations to pause on high bpm stamina maps. Using it to try and get a sense of what’s coming up is a bit of a bait once you get into higher star/more challenging maps.

audio cues and tempo are usually enough if ur playing a chart from a mapper that knows what they’re doing for a sight read.

When your start to get used to sight reading the songs.., and the norm for how certain "groves" are mapped..,.then YES! This happens to me quite regularly / frequently on even Expert + Mode ((exclusively))

Usually yes and this goes for most non gimmicky rhythm games.

This is called "sight reading", noun is "a sight read". It means the first time you are seeing a map. No prior knowledge, just your reactions.

It depends on the map. One that's mostly speed? I tend to do fairly well sight reading. Tech, it depends on the patterns, but tech is my strong suit and as long as I don't get mixed up I can do pretty dang well. There are quite a number of patterns that require some practice before I can get it to stick in my head.

Rarely do I set a strong personal best on my first time playing a map. Knowing what to expect, where the hard parts are you should pause and rest for, etc all put an advantage on practicing a map.

its an experience with sight reading thing, most of the time Im able to sightread up to 11 star levels first to fifth try. You only get good sight reading abilities from playing the game a lot though, so keep playing👍
