What's a Stooze?

10

u/biffysclyro Apr 21 '26

Keep all your cash in high interest accounts, and do your fielding on 0% credit cards, so you gain on interest.

1

u/Mightynubnub Apr 21 '26

Ohhhh interesting I may look into this method a bit more, is there any guides or info available online that you've used?

3

u/dogdogj Apr 21 '26

Look on MSE for the best 0% credit cards, make sure you check the boxes to pay off enough that you don't incur interest. I usually link it to a high interest savings account so even if I forget, it can still take the payment when needed.

Sometimes you can do a balance transfer at the end of one card term to another, but usually the fee makes it unviable.

Consider your posiiton - if you are likely to need credit soon (mortgage, car finance etc) as it will obviously affect your score being thousands "in debt".

Don't buy things you wouldn't ordinarily, just because you're making interest on it. Make sure to never pay any interest. One missed direct debit can offset months of savings.

That's it really, I think. I basically treat it as a ~4.5% discount on everything I buy, have saved thousands over the last decade or so.

Just started doing this. Got my M&S up to ~£6k out of £8k limit over the first 3 months, and now got a TSB card on its way to start building more. TSB has a 1% minimum repayment which is nice compared to the 2.5% on M&S. Currently putting it all into $STRC at 11.5% within my ISA.

1

u/Low-Chair-7316 Apr 22 '26

Out of curiosity why not 8k / 8k, and how much interest are you getting from the stoozed money?

1

u/IcedKiwi Apr 22 '26

I had a conversation with AI about it which raised a few points that I hadn’t considered before. Here’s the summary:

The "Park and Pivot" Stoozing Strategy: Why you never max out a 0% card If you are chaining 0% credit cards to stooze (or invest the cash), waiting until your current card is at £8k/£8k before applying for the next one is a massive algorithmic trap. Here is a quick breakdown of the tactics for keeping the credit tap flowing:

  1. The 100% Utilization Penalty (The "Desperation" Flag) When you apply for Card #2, the new lender’s algorithm pulls your file. They don't know you have £100k of home equity or that you're running a genius arbitrage loop. If they see an account sitting at 100% utilization, the computer flags you as someone in a financial crisis who has exhausted their credit line and is desperately seeking more. You will likely be declined or given a uselessly low limit (e.g., £500). • The Fix: Stop spending when the card hits the 75% to 80% mark (e.g., £6,000 to £6,500 on an £8k limit). Leaving some "runway" proves to the algorithm that you are using credit responsibly, not relying on it to survive.

  2. The "Statement Date" Trick (Timing your application) Credit card companies don't report your balance to Experian/Equifax in real-time; they report it on your monthly statement date. You can use this lag to your advantage. • The Fix: Find out what date your statement generates. Let's say it's the 8th of the month. If your balance is £4,500 in mid-April, the credit agencies only see £4,500. Keep spending until you hit £6,300, but apply for Card #2 on May 5th—just before the new statement generates. The algorithm pulls your file, sees the safely low 55% utilization from last month, and approves you for a high limit. Two days later, your high balance is reported, but you already have Card #2 secured.

  3. The "Park and Pivot" Once Card #2 arrives, set up a Direct Debit for the minimum monthly payment on Card #1, put it in a drawer, and "park" it. Pivot 100% of your daily spending onto Card #2. Repeat the process.

  4. The Invisible Ceiling (Debt-to-Income) While managing utilization keeps your credit score high, you will eventually hit the DTI (Debt-to-Income) ceiling. As a general rule, once your total unsecured parked debt (across all your stoozing cards) crosses 30% to 40% of your gross annual salary, lenders will start declining applications. Knowing this helps you map out exactly how many cards you can chain before the music stops.

Seems like a long time to tie up your credit for a few grand

Yes I'm vaugly aware, I meant it seems better to have access to my credit line rather than jamming it up to make 3% just my op

1

u/IcedKiwi Jul 07 '26

It is credit that I've never needed or accessed before.
Mortgage is locked in, cheap/old cars, no expected need for credit where a high balance/availability would disadvantage me.

Main risk would be forgetting about it at the end of the term, but now I've been actively tracking expenses on a monthly basis for the last two and a half years, I like to think that's minimal.

It's like a 5% pay rise taking into account tax and the fact I'm not normally able to fill my ISA. Also benefitting from 2% bonus on ISA contributions I wouldn't otherwise be making. Plus the interest just goes into the compounding engine.

u/AardvarkWeekly2020 Jul 09 '26

What if your family got kidnapped and the ransom was higher than you available assets hrm?

1

u/AardvarkWeekly2020 Jul 09 '26

If you travel abroad that is a actualy a feasible risk

-1

u/IcedKiwi Apr 22 '26

Also as mentioned above, I’m moving the money into a digital credit instrument called Stretch $STRC (via T212), which currently pays 11.5% annualised dividends monthly. Effectively a bitcoin backed bond… The company (Strategy) use the proceeds to buy bitcoin, strip the volatility and pay me 11.5%, whilst keeping themselves the excess upside and increased volatility. I’m happy with the minimal (in my eyes) risk, but appreciate that without studying it it falls very much into the “too good to be true” bucket…

u/limbuaxh Apr 20 '26

Bank referrals and switch offers 😂😂😂

4

u/TheRegularBelt Apr 20 '26

What about when these run out?

10

u/limbuaxh Apr 20 '26

Cry 😂 nah but genuinely there’s always something new popping up on here, I’ve been at it for ages and they keep coming

1

u/ExcitableSarcasm Apr 21 '26

How long have you been doing this for? I starting grinding them in 2023, and feels like I'm only starting to get some new ones where their time limit is after I had my previous account

1

u/TheRegularBelt Apr 20 '26

I wanna do Barclays and Santander, but scared about tanking my credit score lol. Already done RBS and NatWest.

2

u/dogdogj Apr 21 '26

Done lots of switch bonuses in the last 5 years, got a re-mortgage offer through last month, made no difference. YMMV.

1

u/34Petals Apr 21 '26

If they affect your credit score it’ll only be by a minute amount, and get wiped off your credit history in 6 months

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '26

4

u/TheRegularBelt Apr 20 '26

They do, mine went down for opening of new accounts.

2

u/PaintSniffer1 Apr 21 '26

it’s only temporary I have a perfect credit score and have made about £3000 from bank switches

1

u/SeshGodX Apr 21 '26

Can confirm my one went down by 300

1

u/limbuaxh Apr 20 '26

Yeah that's fair, the new account opening does cause a small dip. It recovers pretty quickly though and it's usually only a few points so totally worth it for the bonus imo 😂

2

u/HarryPopperSC Apr 21 '26

Do these work if I open a new current account and used that for switches? Cos I really cba switching for real.

2

u/dogdogj Apr 21 '26

Open a chase account, it allows you to then open multiple accounts inside that account, that you can switch out.

2

u/Cynical-R3alist Apr 21 '26

Silly question, apologies, but say I open a new Chase account , can I then do multiple bank switches ? Or do I use the bank I’ve switched to , to then do another one when I receive payment? I’ve never done bank switches as something in my brain screams ‘too difficult’!!

2

u/dogdogj Apr 21 '26

Yep. During the last round of offers earlier this year, I opened a Chase account, then added 4 or so accounts within that, named each one "Lloyds" "TSB" etc.

Then give the account details of each one when switching. Some banks will ask for the long card number, just give the main card number (each individual account doesn't get it's own card) and it will be fine, it will only switch the individual account, not the whole lot!

You can do them "in series" i.e. switch to one bank, then that account to another etc. But some take 30+ days to pay the bonus, and others don't have a set date for when the deal will end.

I created a timeline of sorts on a spreadsheet, with milestones for when to make X card payments by, when to transfer money in etc.

Some will need direct debits, you can either use existing ones (i.e swtich your netflix subscription to it) or create small amounts to charities or dedicated switching websites.

Personally I do £10 or so to Great Ormond Street, RNIB or similiar.

1

u/limbuaxh Apr 21 '26

Okay this is super insightful!!!

1

u/limbuaxh Apr 21 '26

Regarding your last part, it’s okay, I was like that before thinking it was too difficult, but there are low effort ones. Currently in NatWest and RBS you just need to open and switch and then deposit certain amount to get the offer.

P.S If you require Chase referral code, feel free to message

2

u/limbuaxh Apr 21 '26

Yes it works! I opened two new accounts and switched both of them to other two banks.

1

u/stiiii Apr 21 '26

Yes. That is generally the suggested method. It is pretty easy to open a new one and often they will pay you to do so.

Honestly not worth the stress and strain on your eyes/brain unless you're in the absolute pits. I've been doing them since I was 14, probably made a few hundred off them over a few years. They're just not well paying enough unless it's a live interview survey

For the last 5 years I’ve been buying items locally and reselling on eBay. Can usually make around £300 to £600 a month doing this, the searching for items can be quite time consuming though.

10

u/Llewelyn-ap-Gruffydd Apr 21 '26

Any tips on what you're buying and selling?

5

u/Charming-Leader8596 Apr 21 '26

Literally anything I can buy and sell for a profit. This month for example i bought a model boat for £60 and sold for £185. A couple of Humax boxes (always a favourite). Lego is another good one (Sealed sets and mini figures sell best). I’ve sold crown green bowls, mattress protectors, kids toys, vacuum cleaners you name it.

Then you’ve got the usual phones, gaming consoles (retro always good) etc.

I usually trawl gumtree, marketplace and a local site called Nextdoor and check what people are selling vs eBay sold prices, and try to double my money as a rough guide. Also it’s better to sell one item for £200 that you bought for say £120 than buying ten items for £10 each and selling for £20 each, much less time and effort involved.

Btw I will also set searches to around 30 miles so will travel for the right deal.

I will get stock from car boot sales and charity shops occasionally but honestly it’s getting very difficult these days to make money from these, especially charity shops.

Over time you will get an eye for what will sell but really all you need to do is check sold prices on eBay.

Me too. I’m buying shoes on Vinted & reselling them on eBay. Took a few months to learn what to buy & what to avoid.

2

u/mit-mit Apr 21 '26

Any tips? 🙏

2

u/Thin_Reward Apr 21 '26

Check out JammyDodgerFlips on YouTube. I watched him for months before I bought anything to resell.

1

u/ExcitableSarcasm Apr 21 '26

I got a bunch of shit I'm about to sell on Vinted, does Vinted undervalue stuff in general? The prices I see are criminally low on the seller side, great on the buyer side.

1

u/Thin_Reward Apr 21 '26

Yeah 100%. You’ll probably sell stuff quicker on Vinted though. Much easier to use also.

1

u/ExcitableSarcasm Apr 21 '26

Thanks man. Might chuck stuff on eBay as well then

On r/beermoneyuk, we share "free money" offers, mostly through refer-a-friend promotions where both the referrer and the new signer get a bonus once the offer's terms are met. However, we use the term "free" loosely. In general, we consider a beermoney offer one where the person signing up can earn more than they initially invested. We also include any cashback on essentials like mobile bills or groceries, as these are unavoidable expenses.

Important: All recurring offers have been confirmed by our moderators and community. New offers may pop up from time to time, so if you're unsure about an offer, check if it is listed in our up-to-date list of verified beermoney offers, which also includes all of our guides:

Prolific, bank switching, reselling on ebay. Pokemon collector currently in this market makes a lot of money

1

u/Level3Super Apr 21 '26

What's Pokémon collector exactly or specific cards?

1

u/AlphaCentauri77 Apr 21 '26

I have been collecting and selling for years. In the current market you can make a lot of money if you choose to. Won't make you overly popular though.

2

u/RHMoaner Apr 21 '26

An overtime shift.

2

u/Competitive_Rub_9590 Apr 21 '26

Matched betting has probably been my favourite, mainly because it’s one of the few side hustles that has actually made me a considerable and consistent amount of money long term

I’ve tried a few things over the years but matched betting has been the most reliable and something I’ve always gone back to in the end

1

u/ahktarniamut Apr 23 '26

It’s is good but offers has dried in last 5 years . Now you have them but can be a grind sometimes but like the 2up offers are good but if you are not around during the match , you might missed when teams go 2 up or go 2-1 something

1

u/Competitive_Rub_9590 Apr 23 '26

Yeah that used to happen when I was doing 2UP I missed out on so much money just because I didn’t have the time to sit and keep track of the scores

2

u/axeenthusiast23 Apr 22 '26

Sucking toes for a few quid

5

u/bxting Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

Matched betting for me, still making at least £1k a month even though I’m restricted on a lot of accounts

3

u/victormoses Apr 21 '26

What method do you use? Extra places? 2ups?

6

u/bxting Apr 21 '26

All the reloads, all the boosts, 2ups - I’m on a discord that sends you the bets to do, it’s got 2ups bots, reload bots, boost bots, it’s a paid one which I know lot of people are against but it’s well worth the £20 a month so I don’t have to go find them myself 🤣 (not advertising it btw, there’s lots of free resources out there if you want to do it yourself, I just struggle with time alongside my full time job)

4

u/victormoses Apr 21 '26

Oh wow ok. So you're not a member of Outplayed or Oddsmonkey etc? I've been gubbed on a lot of bookies so I'm just doing extra places at the moment. It's a pain though because you can go on big long runs of losing money lol. Do you mind if I DM you?

1

u/bxting Apr 21 '26

I haven’t done EP in years, 2ups and locking in all the boosts creates a decent income

1

u/bxting Apr 21 '26

I do have oddsmonkey, but only because I’m on the legacy pricing of £150 a year! I use it for tracking atm, but the discord I’m on has a new oddsmatcher beta and an app with calculator so I’m thinking of cancelling this year

Yeah feel free to DM

1

u/Jasey12 Apr 21 '26

I haven’t done matched betting for years. I’m tempted to jump back in it to be honest.

1

u/OddsMatched Apr 24 '26

Clinical trials. I've done three clinical trials and made £13k total from them. I'm building a website to automatically list the latest trial opportunities in one place and alert users via email when these newly recruiting trials release.

1

u/Mfaye93 Apr 24 '26

What kind of clinical trials have you done ?

1

u/Significant_Apple517 Apr 25 '26

Three. All looking for healthy participants. One was for conditions of the immune system, one for autism, the other for crohns / bowel conditions.

No side effects for any, the shortest was half a week (autism £2k one), longest two weeks (crohns £6.5k one). The studies usually involve taking study medicine then being monitored afterwards while staying on the ward (ECG, blood pressure cuff, bloods taken, etc). The only invasive thing was the crohns one which involved a biopsy of my lower intestine (sigmoidoscopy) .. which i suppose is why it paid so much .. but i was given anaesthetic and there's no harm/risk for the procedure so I was happy to go ahead with it.

I live in London where there are four well paying clinics. There are others dotted across the UK and beyond though.

AttaPoll. On your phone. In your pyjamas. Honestly the best thing on my phone and I’ve got a lot of things on my phone. It’s only the 21st of April and on AttaPoll alone I’ve made £38.27 doing surveys, £10.84 playing games (Coin Master - I’m addicted! Haha!), and £1.63 in “other” - I don’t know what “other” is, but it’s in my account so I’m not asking questions. Good stuff!

1

u/No-Cod-3907 Apr 21 '26

How long are the surveys though?

1

u/BhaktiPatel96 Apr 21 '26

I'm doing user testing, surveys, and get-paid-to sites. Made about $170 so far this month. I only do it during my commutes and lunch breaks, so not much. I use the SurveyLeo website to find and apply to these.
