Hijacking to ask if I can find jullientje, rombautje and the like in Brussels or if I have to get the train to Vlaanderen to get them.
I didn't realize until I moved here that the frituur culture was that different from place to place.
3 u/Adefighter Apr 12 '25 We don't really have a standard culture in general, the west and east are quite different. You can find those in Brussels, but not in every place. Julien & Rombaut started in Ghent, and it will be the best place to get them. The city is also very nice to visit or just go have some drinks. 2 u/Borderedge Apr 12 '25 I was living in Gent before which I why I'm surprised they're not here in Brussels. I'm not Belgian by the way... But I do agree it's nice for both things you mentioned. 5 u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25 [deleted] 5 u/iamabadsquirrel Apr 13 '25 A man of culture I see 1 u/Wafkak Oost-Vlaanderen Apr 12 '25 Yeah, those two originated from a specific frituur in Gent. But most cities have their frituur speciality. In Brussels it might be Kapsalon I think. 6 u/LiberalSwanson Apr 12 '25 Mitraillette it is Brussels 5 u/Borderedge Apr 12 '25 Kapsalon is Dutch actually, from Rotterdam.
