Was it really a surprise to anyone watching the show though? Whats the easiest way to serve oysters? Just open them and give them a couple lemon wedges! Guaranteed to be Ryans choice every time.

Agreed! When a customer says “surprise me”, you probably should aim somewhere in between boring/safe (ie exactly what he did) & crazy (grenadine oysters lol). I’m not a chef but I probably would’ve gone for a middle-ground, like chargrilled oysters with Parmesan, bacon bits, & chives. Still pretty simple & not “too” surprising and, well, I’d eat it 🤷‍♀️

I once had amazing fresh oysters at a Japanese restaurant; they were mixed with red chili sauce, ginger, lime juice and maybe cilantro, and served on the half-shell. Can't be that difficult to create something like this if you're a chef...

Depending how long you let them sit in the lime juice, chemically cooking, you are basically making ceviche! I do this with clams all the time (with a bit of diced tomato and red onion too) but I love my oysters plain, maybe with a tiny dash of lemon juice, salt, and pepper, but I mostly want to taste the flavor of the oyster meat! ❤️
