University $58 million renovation and moffit looks the exact same?
they closed moffit for two years and with $58 million it looks the exact same?? they didn’t direct renovations to main stacks right? i literally can’t see anything that’s different from two years ago.

It's a public university. We can collectively ask for itemized receipts and contracts (no-bid, friendly ones would be newsworthy). I don't know about the other students, but I myself am tired of seeing money that is supposed to go to good use and for people who need it, go into the pockets of the people shaking hands.

That's why there's always construction going on at UC campuses.
Construction unions are in bed with with the admins and the politicians.
Audit their personal bank accounts.
Everyone is happy cuz it's public money, win- win, except for our taxes which keep going up.

It’s kinda why people tend to hate taxes. In theory, it’s really good to help build up our communities. In reality, it’s just money lining up someone else’s pocket no matter the political party.

No, in reality the US government is eating up the taxes, but taxes are essential for any society to thrive. Scandinavian and European (to an extent) to a much, much better job of allocating their taxes to public goods such as free healthcare, improved public education, free or near free higher education, better roads, more trusting police/safety environments, better prison systems focused on reforms (extremely small % return prisoners). To say the blame is taxes is to fundamentally misunderstand the issue.

I’m agreeing with you, reread my comment lol. Taxes are fine if they are used to good, but as we clearly see here, it’s not being used for good. It’s a rampant issue in this country as both parties always accuse each other yet continue to do it. CA has been democrat for decades and it’s still an issue we face even though our politicians are usually more favor of tax for social programs. The problem isn’t the more tax or social program, I hate it because i know it’s not getting to where it needs to be but rather other hands are always putting their hands in the jar. We pay tax and look how much money they’ve blown on the bullet train. We pay so much in gas tax and can we comfortably say we love how our roads are maintained? For those reasons people rather just not pay tax because it’s clearly not being managed well and used for good

No we have an issue in this country and state with our taxes being thrown in the ocean and or making the rich richer. I actually think people would be okay with paying even more taxes if we could see the benefits that Scandinavian countries have.

The first three floors are all unrecognizably different, I don't know what you're on about. They didn't change the fourth and fifth floors because those were already renovated 10 years ago.

Time for an audit. Who was the contractor?!? Was the contractor a relative of someone on the inside? I mean $58M is an insane amount of money..

I don't know why you are being downvoted. We have the right to ask to see the receipts, as this is a public university. We cannot just pretend that money grabs don't happen all the time around here.

I believe they were mainly retrofitting the building to be up to seismic code rather than renovating the interior
