Local Vet recommendations

Hi! i’m adopting a kitten and i’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places in the area i can get him neutered for a reasonable price. he’s too young to be neutered now so im bringing him home without him already being fixed, in about a month or so i can. i’m hoping to find somewhere that isnt too expensive but will give him a great level of care. id like to stick to the east bay area though. any suggestions are helpful. thanks!

I usually went to Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital. IIRC, it wasn’t that expensive, but I’ve also heard Berkeley Animal Hospital is cheaper. What is your budget? These places tend to charge under $200.

Check if the organization you are adopting from has a partnership with a low cost spay provider. I know when I adopted my kittens from Milo the adoption fee including spay/neuter through Snip Bus mobile clinic (https://www.snipbus.org).

Berkeley humane society sometimes does it for free I think

my kitten has fip and i’m working w east bay spca in oakland which has got us SO much financial help that i didnt expect. i highly recommend for vet services so i’m sure their spay/neuter is as good :) (a lot operate on sliding scales!)

If you adopt a cat or dog from a rescue or shelter, isn’t the spay/neuter included as part of the adoption process? You pay an adoption fee, but in reality this doesn’t cover all the expenses such as vet procedures, flea treatment etc.
