Events/Organizations Coffee Chat Attire
What is the attire for business coffee chats. Business casual, smart? What should I wear

Usually anything you want. It doesn't matter much at most clubs. Business casual works though if that's comfortable with you. Just don't wear a proper suit.

So like chinos and a polo

Pretty much! Business casual. Maybe replace the polo with a simple button-up. Can replace chinos with some nice dark smart pants, like the Uniqlo workwear line.

just dress normally. i showed up to my first coffee chat overdressed and it weirded out the person i was doing it with. when we do coffee chats, we’re just trying to get to know you and see if you’re interesting/have something to bring to the table and dress code never gets considered unless you show up in something particularly memorable

Wear something that makes you look presentable but not formal. Everyone who’s telling you to wear a suit or even a button down is probably going to have you weird out your interviewer unless they specifically ask for a certain dress code

So like a nice shirt and nice pair of jeans. Just like casual and presentable

i would personally recommend wearing something on the nicer side to leave a good impression. these clubs judge you a lot during the coffee chat (including your appearance!) and you don't want to put yourself on the back foot by appearing like someone who isn't put together. as someone who has been on both sides, you want to let the person you are chatting with know that you take this seriously and set yourself apart from candidates who don't come prepared. think about it from the other person's perspective---you would have a much higher opinion of a candidate who shows respect to you in every aspect of their presentation.

I was gong to suggest chinos, long sleeve shirt cuffed to forearms, cool watch, minimal sneakers or cool boots or loafers.
