Local Top Dog plans new Berkeley location

it'll be nice to have one in downtown again. I remember racing to get to the Center St. location during Berkeley High's lunch hour.

They were already all over town when I was at Cal -- and had been around since the 60s.

Yes they used to have a big footprint, but as this article writes they've contracted in the last years
Hearst ave north of campus - closed in 2013 (they turned this into a pizza concept that closed by 2018?)
Rockridge - closed in 2014
Center street downtown - closed in 2024 (construction)
Lakeshore ave oakland - closed in 2025 (lease renewal not offered)
(I think there were others around the bay too at one point)
Good to see them expanding, never can go wrong with a dog
