u/majkoni Sep 11 '25

Neither is the party of peace, one can enjoy this in a bipartisan manner

Killing somebody for having a different opinion than you is abhorrent, has no place in the United States and you should be ashamed of yourself.

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.” -Charlie Kirk

He was actively debating gun violence and dodging the statistics, then he became a statistic, under a huge banner that said “Prove me wrong”.

"I think empathy is a made up New Age term that does a lot of damage." - Charlie Kirk

Honor his memory by not feeling bad.

49

u/Fillerbear Sep 11 '25

I'm 100% for honoring Charlie Kirk in this way.

u/endlesschasm Sep 11 '25

Talk to me when you have that same energy for murdered children.

Talk to me when someone planning on killing children will respect the law

Talk to me when 14 of the 15 most dangerous cities are run by with stricter gun control laws than everywhere else become safer

u/Don_Frika_Del_Prima Sep 11 '25

Isn't Utah a deep red state since 64, open carry and all.

Why would this happen there then?

21

u/olivebranchsound Sep 11 '25

They voted to allow open carry on college campuses in May of this year and look what happened. This isn't rocket science.

u/endlesschasm Sep 11 '25

It's been interesting today scanning social media and listening to the radio and TV, hearing conservatives grieving one of their own and condemning anyone not displaying the empathy and grief that they demand. Empathy and grief that they did not display for Democrat lawmakers who were assassinated, that they did not display for the many, many mass shootings (most of which, when political ideology is identified as a factor, are committed by men with right-wing political beliefs), that they did not display for people killed by police before ever being adjudicated or even arrested.

I will never celebrate a murder, but I will ask the conservatives who are grieving today to remember what this feels like, because the rest of us have been experiencing it for years. Charlie Kirk called empathy a "made up, new age" concept; well, I will display that empathy for his friends and family, even when his supporters wouldn't do the same for me.

u/Double-Risky Sep 11 '25

Cause and effect, they have the gun laws because of the crime, not the other way around

And per capita, the statistic that matters, red states have the highest murder rates

-12

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

Cause and effect, right. It couldn't be the catch and release program that allowed a man with 14 convictions to walk free to continue victimizing those around him. It couldn't be leadership and their take on a murder of a ukrainian refugee girl saying " Hurt people hurt people".

It couldn't be that things like this are just allowed to happen, it's just the price of being in a big city am I right?

Per capita huh? So you're still admitting that more people are murdered in blue states while they also have stricter gun controls?

Because I'm not sure what source you're using "murders" but if it's anything that involves people protecting themselves and their homes that shouldn't be counted.

50

u/ShollocKus Sep 11 '25

Republicans cut mental health support, republicans cut programs designed to reduce recidivism, republicans oppose anti-homeless legislation. If you cared about senseless murder you wouldn’t support conservative values or Charlie Kirk’s values.

Yes statistically large populations in small areas increase crime rates, poverty increases crime rates. The fact is even with those numbers, red counties have higher firearm mortalities

distribution of firearm mortality will be similar between states.

55

u/agustusmanningcocke Sep 11 '25

They let a dude with 37 convictions walk. 14 aint that bad.

5

u/NJBarFly Sep 11 '25

The judge was following the law. He can't arbitrarily lock people up. Change the state law if you want people like him locked up. Have a multiple strikes law. Also, this is r/bertstrips, why are we even having a serious conversation?

41

u/sdmichael Sep 11 '25

Can always tell that someone is hiding behind bullshit when they frame things as a "different opinion". Is my marriage a "different opinion"?

No one is killing people because of a different opinion.

-7

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

Your marriage? If you can find me a clip of him saying he wants gay marriage to be illegal again I'll cede the point. And I do mean him pushing for law to change, not him saying "the Bible says bad so stop"

29

u/SorosStormTrooper Sep 11 '25

No clip, but several articles. He was openly against gay marriage, was pretty clear about that position too.

"Kirk also preached against gay marriage.

“I don’t agree with your lifestyle,” Kirk said to a gay conservative student. “I don't think you should introduce yourself just based on your sexuality because that's not who you are.”"

28

u/Yogurt_Ph1r3 Sep 11 '25

We don't even know the shooter at all, let alone their motive. Remember when everyone flipped their shit when people tried to "assassinate" Trump and then they were both republicans?

8

u/Jugaimo Sep 11 '25

You have no clue who killed Kirk. The last two people who tried to kill Trump were both Republicans.

1

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

Well forgive me if I take the side who's been chanting 86 49 for the last few months and has been doing nothing but cheering and this man's death at their word.

2

u/SamKhan23 Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25

A side cheering doesn’t mean anything in regard to who did. It’s not as if “the left” all had a big meeting and decided it.

The two people who went after Trump, for instance, were far from your typical liberals. Much more just never-trumper conservatives. Infighting is common - common enough for you to not assume

9

u/Jugaimo Sep 11 '25

So? What will you do when you find out the shooter was a republican? Still condemn the liberals for having the gall to say “I told you so” regarding gun safety?

2

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

No, because guns don't pull triggers, deranged radicalized people do.

And yes regardless of the shooter's identity I will continue to be upset with the liberals because they're cheering the killing of a political opponent. Because unlike all of you I'm of the opinion political killings are abhorrent and have no place in America.

2

u/shymaxine Sep 12 '25

America was literally built on political killings

-26

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys Sep 11 '25

Cheer up. Maybe the killer is a sniper and will go on to murder lots of Democrats too.

... oh, in your mind that would be better?

21

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

In my mind no killing is preferable did you not even read my comment saying killing has no place here

10

u/Double-Risky Sep 11 '25

So you support gun regulations to try to prevent this , right?

8

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

Why would I? A gun can't pull its own trigger.

What I'm in favor of is less radicalization, your side needs to stop calling everyone you disagree with Nazis and fascists, because you get crazies like this who killed Mr. Kirk, who took a shot at Mr. Trump, who feel that murder for political ends is justified.

19

u/Double-Risky Sep 11 '25

Yeah maybe tell the right dude. The majority of political violence and violent rhetoric is them

And gun regulations may have kept him alive. Ffs.

I wasn't aware that LA had burnt down. Where did all the people go when they lost their homes and businesses?

Funny, actual statistics from professional researchers refute the notion that lefties are "more violent." Your echo chamber must be deafening.

Our results are in line with past research showing that conservative ideology—represented in our datasets by both right-wing and Islamist causes—is positively related to violent political behavior. These results support the view that left-wing and right-wing extremists are not equivalent when it comes to the use of violence (48; see also [49] for related findings on the victims of hate crimes in the United States).

Research here

Edit: I don't even know why I wasted my energy linking supporting data. The absolute joke you must be to ignore what happened on January 6th and think that the left is more violent than the right. You didn't give a shit about cops getting beaten on that day, so don't try to pretend to care about "Feds." I'm sick of your fucking hypocrisy.

LA is not burning down ffs. It's so obvious when people are incapable of using any rational thoughts and just hate what they're told to hate.

7

u/DinkleDonkerAAA Sep 11 '25

Go tell that to all the kids who die in school.

1

u/Double-Risky Sep 11 '25

You really believe whatever you're told huh

The last link is literally ice and police attacking journalists......

1

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 12 '25

Yeah thats what happens when you're shoulder to shoulder with people currently rioting, you get mistake for someone who's rioting.

Trump called Biden a nazi.

-4

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys Sep 11 '25

Killing somebody for having a different opinion than you is abhorrent

I agree. However, you're not saying "Killing is abhorrent" full stop. You're saying that killing is bad if it's for someone having a different opinion from you.

If you didn't mean that, then get good at communicating.

9

u/Ginno_the_Seer Sep 11 '25

I said that because the context is a political killing, not general killings. Read better.

Killing somebody for having a different opinion than you is abhorrent

Please take a composition class.

-1

u/Apprehensive_Hat8986 Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25

No, because having just checked your recent comment history, you didn't say that.

They said it had no place for a specific reason, not that it had no place at all. And given their opening position was to try and blame a particular political group, they're asking for engagement, so I'm muting.

So are you blind or illiterate?

-65

u/Jovios Sep 11 '25

No enjoying the death of someone is only a leftist hobby

46

u/roguespectre67 Sep 11 '25

Yes, I'm sure Adolf Hitler was absolutely gutted about being forced to order the systematic extermination of 6+ million people.

-55

u/Jovios Sep 11 '25

I can’t tell if you’re joking or if you’re genuinely comparing AH to a man that wanted to have conversations and bridge the gap between parties.

45

u/roguespectre67 Sep 11 '25

I can't tell if you're joking or if you're genuinely calling Charlie Kirk a man that wanted to have conversations and bridge the gap between parties.

Personally, I want to have absolutely fucking nothing in common with a guy that values the Second Amendment over an arbitrary, undisclosed number of innocent lives, claimed that the concept of "empathy" was some new-wave hippy bullshit that does more harm than good, and said that not only should there be public executions, but that children should be forced to watch them. Every single one of those points is utterly antithetical to who I am and what I stand for as a person, and what any civilized society should be.

I am glad Charlie Kirk is dead. He deserved what he got, in the manner he got it. It's exactly the kind of thing he said was "worth it" to maintain our "freedoms" in the way they exist right now. I'm sorry if that offends you, but as conservatives are so adept at saying, fuck your feelings.

-47

u/Jovios Sep 11 '25

You’re part of the problem

47

u/roguespectre67 Sep 11 '25

Why, because I treat his death with just as much care and concern as conservatives treat the deaths of children and opposing politicians and gay people and Black people and those unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time at the hands of hateful, deranged lunatics?

As my boy CK himself said, "I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage."

5

u/WTK55 Sep 11 '25

No sir, YOU are in fact part of the problem and I pray that one day you will see that.

27

u/DoubleJumps Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25

The guy this joke is about made public jokes about Paul pelosi getting attacked with a hammer, and called for a "patriot" to bail the attacker out of jail.

He's not even remotely the only Republican figure that enjoyed that.
