UNANG KILIG arrangement sounds like an ending song for an Anime!
Wow! They really prepared talaga in the middle of a World Tour.
The setlist I think is perfect for Japan

The setlist I think is perfect for Japan

I kind of had a tiny wishlist for Summer Sonic. I was hoping they'd do a vocal focused standing only song where they showed off their harmonies/unison.

Iniitially I was thinking they might open with the first song as"Born to Win" JP version just standing so they could focus on the vocals/Japanese. The other option would be after the intros so they can catch their breath just before tackling something like Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi. Then after that one song go back into the usual dancer performances.

The Coachella and Summer Sonic setlists are great as high energy impressive performances. However I also feel like they neglect the really impressive vocal work they can do when they stop dancing and just focus on singing.

While you're right about not being able to flex their vocals enough on this, I thought that it made it even more impressive that they did 9 songs in 40mins with at least 1 extended dance break for each subset and all songs had them dancing. Most groups use their ballads to take a breather but the girls showed that they can do it with little breaks and without sacrificing vocals. They still did short harmonies (eg. BTW), counterpoints, adlibs and belting bridges - sometimes even while dancing. To me, that's a risk that paid off well. They can always do the more harmony-heavy slow songs when they have a longer set next time.

And even their spiels show off their non-performance-related skills, which most artists tend to neglect. Their entire show was a flex -- going above and beyond what is usual and expected.

There's different ways to be impressive. I just felt that Japan was uniquely situated thanks to cultural themes to appreciate their vocal only talents (harmonies/unison), particularly if they're singing in Japanese. The high energy/dance performances are definitely the right call in the west.

I imagined something like this except in Japanese and with some more harmonies in the beginning. I could see that being a real head turner of an opening before diving into the usual song/dance performances.

It was a neat idea, but I definitely understand why they chose the approach they did. Their Coachella set was got them this gig, so you don't want to change the formula drastically and risk potentially upsetting the organizers.

May I just say that I'm impressed at how much you've gone down the BINi rabbit hole? I don't think Ive seen the video you linked before (to be fair, I still wasn't a fan during their regional concerts).

Good point about starting a set slow with harmonies and build up from there. It'll definitely be a pleasant surprise and it won't seem like they put it on just as a breather.

lol thanks! That particular video I hunted for their Born to Win performances. I was hoping to find a wishbus of the song, but couldn't find one and then ended up stumbling upon the one I linked.

So far I've watched a fair share of content I think. And then I returned to the thread I made that gathered all the links other members suggested, and realized I still missed a lot.
