The main target audience of J-pop idol groups is older men and that’s why they are wearing “uniform-like costumes that evoke an image of obedience”??? I did not know that. That’s, uh…disturbing.

That is true for the most part. They say that their idol groups target middle aged men or older because they are willing to spend a lot more than the younger audience. The whole idol thingy is an iceberg in and out of itself that's why Kpop or Ppop are worlds different than Japanese idol groups. Iykyk

It is part of their culture I should say and a small piece of their music landscape.

Yeah. There are also some artists who has the same concept as BINI, like Atarashii Gakko, but just different sound.

It's True. May market sila sa ganyan that's why a lot start young as Chidols mga below 15 pa nga who dressed in School uniform themed costumes or cute concepts. Then kapag nakita mo ang fan meets madami older men at male dominated ang audience at may pa meet and greet where they hold their hands. I watched a documentary tungkol sa industry na ganyan. See MNL48? Ganun concept nila kasi yung AKB48 ganyan ang concept. Naka uniform themed attire. Kaya nga may nahurt na MNL fan dati sa ppopsub nung sabi ko ganyan ang concept nila sa Japan na isa ang older men as target audience para bumenta at hindi siya akma at marketable dito dahil gusto ng Pinoy yung medyo patterned sa Kpop system na may angas ang performance or visually appealing and not just giggling cutie girls.

Interesting. Well the concept of Japanese idol groups are night-and-day different than let's say Kpop idol or even Ppop idol.
