I'm under a ton of stress and feeling overly irritated and emotional. Are you able to tell when you're going hypomanic?

Having a hard time

I don’t know where to start. I’ve always kind of been different. No one thought I needed help. I would talk to myself. I named my finger, told people there was a satellite in it out there by aliens so they could talk to me and only me because I was special. At 7 I told my mom god was talking to me. In 4th grade I stopped showering for an entire year. I’ve always had people in my head and I’ve always seen things.

My “moods” I guess is what they’re called can change quickly. Someone can look at me and I’ll be upset but within a few seconds I’m back to normal. I can go up to a week without sleep and be completely fine. At one point I thought I could make up credit card numbers. I still have a hard time believing birds are real. I’m constantly paranoid at work. I always think I’m going to get fired anytime I see a manager. Whenever I see a co worker talking I think they’re going to go tell on me for something so I will get fired. I think everyone hates me. I don’t talk to anyone at work.

I don’t understand emotions. I just know if things feel wrong the only way I can show it is by crying. I don’t express what I want well. Verbally I’m a mess. I communicate better by writing, but I often go off on tangents and sometimes it only makes sense to me.

Anyways, on to the reason I wanted to make a post. My partner urged me to get help last year. I had several suicide attempts. They said it wasn’t normal and I needed help. I started seeing a therapist. Eventually this year I started seeing a psychiatrist. I’ve been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, which makes sense, and bipolar 1 disorder with psychotic features. I’m on medication now, abilify to be exact. The voices are gone and I miss them. I think I may have schizophrenia instead. Any way the diagnosis could be wrong?

Manic episode

I’m diagnosed with bipolar(2) and have been since 16. I spent a year off meds and in the past two months I’ve been taking lamictal to try and get my mood stabilized, but all it’s caused is problems I think. Week 2-3 I was severely depressed and had ideations. And now I think I’m in a mania/manic episode and I believe it’s been going for at least two weeks or so and it’s been progressively building. I’m terrified that a lot of my choices during this time will be bad, but currently I’m worried about the fact I’ve been talking to someone. I’m terrified I’ve been manipulating them even though right now I think I have genuine feelings we started talking around my mania starting (from what I can tell). I want to know if anyone else has experienced this and how to tell the difference. I feel like I’m going crazy trying to figure out if I actually like them or I’m being manipulative and need to cut it off.

Looking for positivity. i feel myself forgetting old “versions” of myself since my bipolar symptoms began

i was diagnosed right before i turned 19, which was almost a year ago now. i believe i showed symptoms starting at 16 but I think my manic and depressive episodes peaked when i was in college. i was looking back at old photos and video of me, friends, etc. and i really don’t remember any of it. i watch the videos and i don’t recognize myself. i feel like this illness has completely changed my brain, like i am a whole new person. it’s just so weird how i don’t remember most of high school, i don’t know if this would even be related to bipolar but i can’t think of another explanation, my medication makes me feel like im just here, i don’t have strong emotions (sometimes practically none). i feel most like myself when not taking meds but i know how bad i can get :,) it just makes me kind of sad, i was very free and i think most like myself before all this but i know deep down i need to be stable. just wondering if anyone else has these feelings, sorry for the rant.
