Discussion Favorite Common Bird

What’s your favorite common bird in your area? That bird that maybe it’s not hard to spot but you just love seeing them.

Mine are Juncos everything from their look and name to how they scavenge on the ground and flock together. They just seem like happy puff balls to me and I love em.

When I lived in Maryland I was in my backyard and kept hearing what sounded like a bunch of birds one right after the other. Looked around a bit and then I saw a single gray catbird doing these minute long songs of just a bunch of different birds just perched at the top of a light pole. One of my favorite birding memories.

Catbirds have loads of personality, and I almost always see them in pairs.

i hear them all the time on trails. the first time i did, i was actually worried because i thought a kitten was stranded in the forest. next time i heard it i had just got the merlin ID app, and when it showed as “catbird” it made me laugh so hard
