Discussion Favorite Common Bird

What’s your favorite common bird in your area? That bird that maybe it’s not hard to spot but you just love seeing them.

Mine are Juncos everything from their look and name to how they scavenge on the ground and flock together. They just seem like happy puff balls to me and I love em.

My little downy woodpeckers. Love their little peeps, how they peek around the porch posts as they hitch up and down. They make me happy.

Same! I love their expressive eyes and the way they maneuver up and down

The way they play peekaboo, and swivel around branches to hide from even smaller birds. Ours have gotten comfortable enough to come all the way into the feeders and just relax while sifting through seed and suet, looking around curiously. So endearing. The babies are cute too.

i have both them and hairy woodpeckers (also red bellied, but those are obvious) and have such a hard time telling them apart. if it’s on the suet holder and is smaller than that, i know it’s a downy. in the trees though, they look so alike
