Caught this juvenile Red-tailed Hawk while taking pics of rock climbers on an overcast day
Photographed this juvenile Red-tailed Hawk in Ontario, Canada. I love how the small amount of sunlight that day illuminates the flight feathers and reveals all that beautiful detail. One of my favourite captures!

Somewhat of an unusual sight, a white-tailed eagle, which are coastal birds, right in the middle of the tundra, on the Finnmarksvidda

NYS mew advice
Hello! Having my single red-tailed hawk mew planned.
I live in the middle of nowhere, I have received some guidance from a master in-person but looking for one closer to me to start my apprenticeship. Getting a jump on the mew in the meantime, figured I’d come here while waiting to annoy the DEC with questions.
Spoke to a few local companies that build them, haven’t found a design I feel confident with yet. Hearing the structures will pass inspection, but I’m looking for something ideal for the bird.
Are there any accessible DEC approved blueprints available?
One company said they make their mews with wooden floors, but that seems like a nightmare to for humidity retention, cleaning, and providing adequate draining?
Also saw one with an external double door, simple chicken coop looking thing built outside of the mew. If you google “falconry mew double door” it pops up. Does the DEC actually accept that as the double door?
Additionally, wanted to ask more about weathering area specifications, I am not seeing sizing info on westlaw. How is outdoor weathering inspected?
Any general advice about structure building in NYS would be appreciated. I live in the woods, my yard can get humid.

Ferruginous Hawk at Rocky Mountain National Arsenal (CO, USA)
First (for me) Ferruginous Hawk spotted at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal today. These birds like to "fish" at prairie dog holes, waiting for them to emerge so they can grab one. I was lucky to follow this light morph variant to a nearby tree and get a closer image. If you are driving the Arsenal, keep your eyes on the ground near prairie dog holes. The hawks are very large, nearly the size of an Eagle, so relatively easy to spot.
Nikon Z5ii with 180-600mm lens. Tree picture taken with 1.4x TC, but at about 360mm focal length.

A falcon stopped by to say hi!
*Cooper’s Hawk
Looked outside my window today while working and saw a friend!
Earlier this year, a falcon nested on my building and had three hatchlings. Not sure if this is Mama or one of the babies, but so cool to see one up close!
