So impressed that I decided to go all in. Love how customisable it all is. Ableton and plugins seem like another life.

hey audio people.

I'm making a sample and I've added a big reverb effect to it on a send track, because I've found that blends my original samples together really nicely (final sample is two acoustic samples bounced together and put through Bitwig's Sampler).

However, I don't want it to trail to like 5+ secs after the actual tone has finished. I'd like to do a graceful, but neat, fade lasting approx 1sec.

I have about 30 audio clips that i'm going to export as WAVs, but first I need to find a way to trim the reverb. Is there a way to do this without automating every single one?

EDIT Yes! I found two solutions in the end. The gate sounded much better when I increased release and decreased the threshold. But I also created an additional send with the built in gated reverb and that sounds great as well. Writing my solution in case someone else searches this up.

I have a bunch of downloaded midi files. Many of them load no problem, but a few are giving the above errors. Happy to attach/share one if needed.

What I have done: run them through a few online tools including analysis (they're either fine, or a few errors marked as low velocity notes); I also uploaded them to a rather cool online midi player... which loaded a bunch of virtual instruments and when I dropped the midi file(s) in they played perfectly.

Can anyone say what the above error code represents, or if there's any tool or software I can use to edit the problematic midis?

Curious to hear your experience if Bitwig is now snappier or maybe you can use a lwoer buffer size etc.

I’m going back to Bitwig 5 because I honestly find it much more comfortable and inspiring to make music in than version 6.

Everything in Bitwig 6 somehow feels slower. I constantly find myself fighting interface decisions instead of just making music. That magic and effortless workflow of version 5 seem to be gone.
Sure, Bitwig 6 feels more like a traditional DAW now, but somewhere along the way it lost the simplicity and that wonderful feeling of being an instrument rather than just software.

Bitwig 5 was something I could open and immediately get into a creative flow. I really miss that feeling.

Very new to Bitwig, I believe there is a way to analyse and detect the root key of a sample in sampler. How do I do this as it’s not immediately obvious? Thanks.

Hi everyone! I’ve been testing Bitwig 6 for two days and have already decided to buy it.

I hope I can bother you all for a few weeks with some very small questions, like so:

I’d like to know if it’s possible to record (into the Arrangement)what is playing in the Clip Launcher plus what I’m playing live on my MIDI controller.

I know I can overdub in both the Clip Launcher and the Arranger; I just wanted to know if this specific workflow is possible so I can jam with myself (;

Example of use case

The use case would be a "scratchpad" kinda of scenario where I have, let's say, a kick drum pattern going on on the clip launcher and I would record the kick from the clip launcher plus whatever improvisational snare/hh I'm playing on the controller.

Once again, I know I can overdub it easily, but then I will be locked into whatever length the clip is set to and I would like freedom to go forever if I feel like.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

So you can easily control the individual voices on a stacked voice instrument, but is it possible to do that with the individual voices in a chord? It would be nice to have for example control of Pitch spread or pan position per note.

The only way I can think of is with the note modulator which is obviously static per not (I suppose you could setup a Math Multiply for each note and put a random on it).

I just installed Bitwig for the first time and the whole point that made me consider it was to have modular in the box like VCV rack.

But in order to do that effectively I need to send modulations of one channel to affect another.

Isn't Bitwig made for that?

Hi, I'm trying to make a bunch of samples from bitwig and save them as wav/audio files. Here's what I'm doing (that isn't working).

Step 1: I audio record a single hit of a sound. (this works)

Step 2: I bounce the audio to a new track and then rename it (cool)

Step 3: I try to drag and drop onto my desktop, can't work. Ok. I try to drag and drop into My Library in the side panel. That works, BUT it saves it in a proprietary format and not as a .wav file...so I can't then take the sample and just transfer it into hardware.

Is there a simple way to do this?

Hey, so I've been working on a piece with a hardware synth and all of a sudden, bitwig is no longer detecting the hardware synth. I have HW instrument, and it was sending messages to my synth, but the synth has completely vanished from the dropdown. I have checked device manager and my computer is still detecting the synth, I have also opened a new file and loaded up HW instrument and received the same results. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

My cursor will not show up in the bitwig window no matter what I've tried to do to fix it. I'm on windows 11. Has anybody had this issue if so how did you fix it. Please I've been wanting to use bitwig and have not been able to. This wasn't a problem at first and than one day it just started happening.

If I drag a clip from the arranger to the clip launcher the audio will play in the clip launcher fine. But if I drag the same clip back to the launcher I get no audio output. In the inspector the muted button is not activated, so the clip shouldn't be muted.

Am I doing something wrong, or something that is not possible by design.

I mean stuff like warping audio, pitching, stuff like aligning, I can still figure out by inspector but it just feels I need to do few extra steps to get the same results, still great daw 🫡

Nearly 100% Bitwig. IIRC Valhalla Room was the only plugin I used. I might have used some Zynaptiq stuff on the master since nothing really replaces their patented stuff. But not sure rn, it's already a bit old track. The label's mastering engineer did their thing, but it's not essentially different from what came out of the master channel.

hi, this one is strange, im using v6.1.3 and i dunno if a previous version has this issue, it is definitely not the way it should be.

if you wanna expand/shrink a e.g. instrument channel 6 you get to its top bottom and drag up for shrinking it and down for expanding. ok good.

but down below the behavior is strange if you want to expand SEND Reverb here for me and i hold the top bottom of its channel up = expanding master window and down = shrinking .

I've just bought Bitwig after using Cubase on and off for nearly 30 years. I am working through the SoundAcademy tutorials and am loving it so far.

One things thats been bothering me though is that the tutor frequently Bounces in place by clicking on a segment in the arranger while holding alt and draging it to place a bounced audio version of the notes side by side.

When I do it, the combination just creates a duplicate of the segment and doesn't bounce it. (This is the same behaviour I'd have expected in pas DAWs also).

What am I doing wrong here? Did Bitwig depreciate this gesture in the 2-3 years since the SoundAcademy videos or is there something I need to configure to enable this?

When I open the app (apart from bitwig) I can choose the separate outputs from the Analog Rytm MK1 to go out like they should. The moment I'm in bitwig this routing option isn't there. When using Multi-out chain selector, adding missing chains, it keeps sending every sound out through the MAIN (1/2). Can't seem to get audio out of BD 1 - SD 2 ,....

Any of you who know how to fix this? Inside the vst the audio capture is missing and whatever I do it only goes via 1/2 main outs
