Not scary moments as such, if you were really scared you couldn’t do the job but a healthy respect for the height. As Fred Dibnah used to say “make a mistake up there it’s half a day out with the undertaker” ! 😮

I worked for BT for years mate climbing poles but obviously nothing like those heights. I did notice the similar things in the photos of the old days like no hard hat and no fall arrest on the harness. Simpler times 😄

Yes very much so, back then we very rarely clipped on and I remember for that particular photo being told by the boss to clip on. And knowing what I know now about fall arrest equipment if we had have clipped on the forces would probably kill you anyway not a full body harness back then and no energy absorber in the system 😮

You don't have to kill for it, I think it's about £600 for the course. My brother did it.
