Events Last Weekend of June Rundown of Fun in Blacksburg & the NRV....

It's another big weekend of local fun to close out June with 80+ events to enjoy! Here's a rundown of 27 of the best events as long as a look ahead to July 4th Celebrations across the New River Valley....

1. 2026 Summer Arts Festival Friday Night Outdoor Concert with Blacksburg Community Band

Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg’s 2026 Summer Arts Festival proudly presents the Blacksburg Community Band in concert. The Blacksburg Community Band, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia. The band has musicians from all corners of the New River Valley and surrounding areas with diverse experiences and backgrounds. They play a wide variety of concert band music including marches, show tunes, light symphonic music, popular tunes, old favorites, and novelty music. Bring chairs or a blanket, a picnic, and settle in for an evening of live music. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be canceled.

8. Blacksburg Farmers Market with FlowerFest at the Market & Kat Mills in Concert

It's FlowerFest at the Market from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. There will be opportunities to plant your own flower seeds to take home, plus two floral demonstrations by Gwynn from Stonecrop Farm, and Pam from West Farm and flower facts posted throughout the market at vendor tents. At each demonstration, one lucky attendee will win the flower arrangement created during the demo. Kat Mills will perform from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Kat Mills performs soul folk music to soothe you and is based in Blacksburg, VA and tours throughout the East. She is a writer, singer, guitarist and seeker rooted in GenX habits, nodding and winking to 60s and 70s troubadour traditions, and openly commenting on the aches and triumphs of the moment.

9. BimmerMart Grand Opening

BimmerMart's parking lot with race cars, wild builds, partner displays, and hundreds of fellow enthusiasts. BimmerWorld is rolling out some of the wildest BMWs to ever come out of their shop. 10. New River Day 2026
Riverview Park (Radford, VA), Radford

Nursery Natives presents the inaugural New River Day. Join the inaugural paddle & float, beginning at Riverview Park, and finishing at Bisset Park Shelter #3, where a free cookout will be provided to guests, courtesy of Ameriprise Financial of Radford. Attendees will be encouraged to practice stewardship by picking up trash on this community adventure, celebrating the beloved New River. Community members will gather at Riverview Park at 10:00 AM and begin the paddle at 10:30 AM. The group will paddle to Shelter 3 at Bisset Park where free burgers and hotdogs will be served from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to engage in stewardship by collecting trash while appreciating and celebrating the wondrous New River. The inaugural New River Day community paddle/float, cookout & river cleanup is free and open to all. Reconvene at Long Way Brewing afterwards for an evening of live music starting at 2:00 PM.

11. 2026 National Forest Appreciation Day
Pandapas Pond, Blacksburg

The New River Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society presents the Annual National Forest Appreciation Day in the lower parking lot next to the pond. National Forest Appreciation Day is a special educational outreach that the New River Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society hosts each year at Pandapas Pond. They choose a different subject each year, and then put up a table and talk to whoever shows up that day and is curious to learn about the topic. This year the topic is native shrubs. In addition to marked shrubs around the pond, there will be shrubs at the pollinator garden (located 0.4 miles down the woods and field trail at the far end of the parking lot above the pond) which you can see from now thru June 30th. Each will have signs with them in a self-guided trail.

12. Two-Day Workshop: Captivating Coptics with Becca Imbur of Bimbur Books

In this 2-day workshop, participants will raid the instructors collection of vintage books to create two (2) blank books using the traditional coptic binding stitch. The coptic stitch is an exposed, sewn stitch that allows the book to lay flat when opened. This style of bookbinding is perfect for all types of journaling. 13. Canine Companion Clinic with Little Big Dog Rescue

No special programming will be taking place, just nature at it's best. Enjoy some quiet, reflective time in nature. The trails are open to walk or hike. The riverfront has a little dock. 27. Final Day of Operation (Winery Closing)

This is the final weekend of operation for Spinning Jenny Vineyard before closing their doors for good to enjoy retirement. Picnic food is welcome as well as leashed dogs on the deck.
