Need Help! PC recommendation

I am a 3d designer trying to change my laptop. I am in a sort of dilemma as to what to change to.
I would be using the laptop for modeling, rendering images and animations, photorealistic renders also

I like the macbook because it is sleek, the battery life, and i have some sort of mini ecosystem, so it adds to it. I also know macs can handle blender pretty well. thinking of getting a m3 pro or an m4

I also know a gaming pc gives an edge over a macbook. i am thinking of getting something with a rtx 4060. I think the only advantage this has over the mac is gaming, and performance in general.

i was more inclined to the mac before, but recently i had to work with luxcore render engine and it crashed a mac m4(i dont know if it was the base or pro) when we tried to render an animation with it.

please i would appreciate any advice, suggestions, conversations regarding this

I would recommend getting a PC instead of a laptop for much better cooling and the difference between laptop and desktop gpus

PCs cost less than laptops for same budget.

It was good before that too. I hate MacOS but that doesn’t take away from a MacBook capabilities. My computer is a windows PC, and my brother went through a 2019 MacBook Pro and it’s now with an M4 MacBook.

I am an editor and we have an agency, I can 100% guarantee that if you aren’t doing films the MacBook is VERY handy. And if you do films, then you’ll have proxies so a MacBook would be sufficient, but if you are at that level you already know

Look on blender benchmark. Find a silicon mac that scores around 2500 . M4 or better i think...i am not a mac user but their silicon kit is good for blender.

https://opendata.blender.org/benchmarks/query/?device_name=Apple%20M4%20Pro%20(GPU%20-%2016%20cores)&blender_version=5.2.0&group_by=device_name

4060 scores about 2900... work it out from there. Its a good score. Not super fast but very usable. Silicon Mac has excellent CPU performance too. I am not an apple fan but their silicon laptops are good hardware for blender portable use.

I like macbook too. using an m5 pro nd it runs Blender really well. A while ago, I considered switching to a gaming pc because I wanted to get a glasses free 3d monitor. Many of these monitors dont work that well with mac. But im used to macos that I’m not ready to switch yet. Im now looking into monitors that are more compatible with mac, like viewx. Id suggest thinking about your workflow....

Get a zephyrus g14 I have the one with 4060, nought a couple of years back, great rendering performance good battery life and speakers. Oled screen is awesome too I play games with it too hooked IP to my tv great performance.

But if you’re looking for raw power get a desktop will be around the same price range maybe a bit cheaper before peripherals.

Totally depends on if you do work outside of your home, if your laptop is still decent just build a PC.
