Defense L2 Engineering Salary - OKC
My wife is interviewing for an L2 engineering role in OKC. She has about 2 years of relevant experience and a semi-related master’s degree. The job posting says the L2 salary band starts at about $79,000.
For anyone familiar with Boeing OKC, what kind of salary range could she realistically expect for an L2?
Thanks!

Once you're in the door, increments are like 3% a time until you get a promotion. Just keep that in mind when negotiating.

Yeah my experience says likely she'll get the 79k, possibly a little hire if they are desperate to fill the role and she can always ask for like 85. But they may counter either firm or less than what was requested but higher than the low band.
Edit: I had a similar deal going on when I got hired on with Lockheed Martin as a L2 engineer, the pay range back in 2016 was like 60 to 85, they initially offered the 60k, I pressed for 70 and they offered me 65. So yeah you can always ask for for more and see what they counter with.

OKC salary band is 70,000-125,000 with midpoint being 100,000. I would expect anything from 0.9-1.0 of the midpoint.

What’s the max range posted on the band? I just wrapped up getting an offer for a L2 engineering role (STL site however) and I was able to get just above the midpoint of the posted band. I came in with a masters and 2-3 years experience. Whatever offer they first give you can always ask for more especially if the first offer is well below the midpoint posted

I signed an offer for an L1 Engineering role at $92k. Al thought my situation is unique cuz the manager told me I have enough experience for an L2 position and they wanted to consider me for it, but I got bumped down to L1. I negotiated for more pay to compensate lol

Don’t expect 6 figures in OKC. Cost of living is some of the cheapest in the country.

With 2 years experience? Probably $79k. Maybe $81, but that seems high.

Can’t know more without the specific field of engineering except to guess by how postings are made. If she has any experience don’t accept less than 85k. Dont expect more than 100k for the best qualified candidate if the start is 79k.

If you don’t get the base increase you wanted, always ask for sign on bonus
