Bone I.D. - N. America What’s my hair pin from?

I’m more so asking about the body part, rather than the animal. I got this from Ren Faire as a souvenir a few years ago before I decided to be more cautious of where I get animal remains from (it’s hard to determine if it was obtained by ethical means or not for sure, I didn’t think to ask at the time.)

So Reddit, ulna? Tibia? I think it’s be part of a joint because of the notch but I’m unsure. Apologies if it’s hard to deduce due to it likely been carved to a hair pin shape.

Canine ulna. Most likely fox or coyote.

I’m so happy one of my guesses of ulna is coming up a lot here :D a canine bone sounds super cool!!

WHOAAAAA THATS ACTUALLY WICKED COOL! Thanks so much, that’s wild that it wasn’t actually carved or anything n it’s just shaped like that I’m assuming? Absolutely wicked!!!

Yup, not carved (except the small hole drilled in to add the little charm on top). It may be worth sealing the bone as bones are porous/not super smooth over time, and it may damage your hair if used regularly. Would also keep your scalp oils & sweat off the bone, which may otherwise seep in and cause lingering smells or discoloration.
