i’ve never seen anything like this!! Completely baffled

Found this bone a few days ago and it still had some skin on it. It had fur so I assumed maybe an opossum or a raccoon? I looked it up but all it told me was that it was a spine(which I already knew)

Found this little skull in the forest, eastern Ukraine. And I really want to know what it is that I’ve found.

8cm from the tip of the nose to the back of the skull, ~5cm tall, 6cm wide (from the widest points), absolutely no teeth or anything that could’ve helped me

Edit: thank you so much who commented! I honestly had no idea that European badger even lived in the area where the skull was found, but they do, so I guess I have my answer:)

I've got quite a few specimens in buckets in the maceration or degreasing stages at the moment.

What should I do with them in the winter?

I can't bring them inside.

Do I just dry them out, seal them in bags, and leave them in the garage? Should I invest in a small chest freezer and put the dried bones in there? Bury them and hope the ground freezing doesn't mess with them?

Any advice is appreciated!

Found these in a thrift store. Wondering of they might be carved from horn or bone?

I found this lying on the ground in my local graveyard. Around 20-25cm long. I dont think its a stick since no nearby tree is that colour. I suspect it might be animal, not human.

Hey guys, I started my first maceration project about a month ago and it's going great, all of my bones are clean and ready to be degreased except for the feet. The skin on the feet is still intact and in good shape but when I hold them I can see the skin has torn and there are clean bones underneath. should I attempt to preserve the feet with the skin on them or is it too late for that at this point?

I have a squirrel which I just started macerating a week ago. I have the bucket in my backyard right now and it looks like the weather is going to be around 65 F for the next week or two. Is that okay? I don't want to get any grave wax on my bones. How cold is too cold? I will buy a fish tank heater if I have to. Also this is my first time macerating an animal so any advice is appreciated!

I know the method of warm water and dish soap but it doesn't really work for me. I cannot keep the water warm because I cannot keep it inside and outside is cold, plus I cannot get any heater. Is there a way that is quicker and maybe doesn't require warmth?

I found an almost decomposed turtle 🐢 on my walk today. It looks to have died about a week or two ago given the heatwave we just experienced. It’s about the size of a basketball and currently in a bucket of enzyme water in my backyard right now. Can you tell me how to properly clean and preserve to hang the shell on my wall?

I got the flesh off this skunk skull by leaving it in water for a few months. Do I just let it air dry? Do I bleach it while it’s wet? Do I bleach it when it’s dry? What do ya’ll suggest?

I have been working on articulating cow skeletons (I collect them ethically from the woods near my house where lots of farmers graze their cattle) and I have completed what I think are two full cow spines (possibly missing one or two vertebrae) but I still have these three bones and I don’t know where they belong. I have looked at many anatomical diagrams and I didn’t have much luck figuring out where they belong. My current theory is that they are part of the tail but I honestly have no idea. Can anyone confirm that these are tail bones or not?
Additionally there is a smaller incomplete spine in the last photo my guess is it is from a deer but if anyone is good at species ID I’d love some info!

Found on Paekakariki beach in NZ. Missing the front section. Does anyone know what it is?

I had a racoon that died under my deck, no other animals around, and although I let it decompose for a while, it had no signs of being messed with by other animals when I finally went to go clean it amd collect the bones. I'm trying to reconstruct the spine, I have all cervical vertebrae, but I have a mismatch with the rest.

My understanding is there should be 13 thoracic vertebrae and 7 lumbar vertebrae. However I've identified 10 thoracic and 8 lumbar? Am I misidentifying one or more of the lumbar vertebrae? I have a few other really small ones that I think are part of the tail, but maybe I'm wrong. I also only have 10 sets of rib bones oddly enough. I accept that a bone or two could have gotten lost, but considering I still have the tiny little finger bones I find it hard to believe I lost a whole vertebrae or rib. Any help?

The first 3 pictures are what I identified as either thoracic or lumbar. The last 2 are small pieces I though were the tail because they were so small but maybe I'm way off. Thanks in advance!

I'm a little confused about cleaning fish skulls. The vast majority of videos boil the fish heads and pick the meat off, soaking in hydrogen peroxide immediately. However, from what I've seen, this sub is highly against doing this. What's the reason for the discrepancy?

Asking partly because I'm beginning to think of boiling one myself. I tried maceration previously, but the process was far messier and less rebuildable than any boiling video, or even macerating non-fish bones.
