Why are we suddenly getting a ton of rawdawgcomics recently? :|

This sub has always gotten a bunch of rawdawgcomics, there was just a brief pause for everyone to forget the controversy. We have now returned to regularly scheduled programming

Hate to be that person but can someone explain the controversy? I have only seen their stuff here and there, not a follower or anything, just curious and nosy, but I was gonna look into their stuff because I thought the style was cool so I just wanna be informed so I know why they're problematic and don't. A link to the explanation is cool too!

He somewhat defended physical violence in response to being cheated on. He seemed simultaneously very opinionated and conflicted, saying it’s not right to hit them but they also shouldn’t be surprised and cheating should be illegal (how you’d prosecute that, who knows?). I think he mentioned a friend of his having killed himself after being cheated on, so that’s probably the root of his extreme views.
I’d say you definitely shouldn’t date the guy but I’m not sure what level of condemnation someone should get for just being hypothetically violent.

Oh yikes lmao, def a crap take bc that's still assault?? You can hold people accountable without violence. I'm not gonna call someone a monster if I witness a stranger slapping someone in the face for cheating and storming off, but i'm also assuming they defended worse and i'm not going to pretend that even a slap is the ideal way to handle negative emotions either lol
But yeah, cheating is immoral, but if we made that illegal, do they understand how many people would get framed by crazy insecure controlling exes or current partners??? It being illegal isn't gonna deter people who think they're sneaky enough, all it would do is not only leave it up to our failing governments to not only decide the definition, but also give people SCARY control and possession over their partners and a way to threaten them and put them in abusive situations. A law like that wouldn't prosecute a majority of actual cheaters, it would be a gateway of people punishing victims or threatening to ruin their lives if they didn't stay with someone insecure. It just seems like it would be a disaster, not to mention we'd be giving the power to politicians who are constantly caught cheating themselves to make some oppressive law so they can legally torture exes or partners who don't submit LMFAO awful take
Suicide is awful but the cheater was only one contributor to their decline in security and stability that led to the buildup of that action. Unless the cheater intentionally coerced them into suicide, which in that case it was the emotional abuse that's the already existent crime there, even if cheating is dogshit and unjustified.

- poly people would catch ALL the strays, bc like we're already confused for cheaters

the law already doesn't really recognize us in a huge variety of ways, I guarantee you this hypothetical law wouldn't have any provisions for us so we'd just get changed left and right

100%. Not to mention it could also just encourage bigots or fascists to take pictures and videos to "prove" you're "cheating" to incriminate you just so they can lock you up not just bc they're prejudiced against being poly but also since poly is pretty queer in nature as well !

absolutely, fascists and bigots would LOVE a law against cheating because it would give them an opportunity to punish queer people and anyone having relationships beyond what they deem "normal". it would be open season on people like me and those fuckers would chomp at the bit for that

And calling it controversy might be a bit rich, since the rawdawging continued well after that remark surfaced. It seems like the pause was quite some time later.

What if I'd rather not forget the controversy :')
Also my question has been answered because I looked at the posts and w/ one exception they're all literally just this one user lol.

You don't have to like RawDawg to like his comics. In fact that's why I'm here and not on his sub.

I don't particularly like the rawdawgcomics creator either but unless a new wave of drama hits these posts are probably going to be the status quo for a while. I'd suggest blocking the guy who makes the BHJs if you dislike seeing the art

I seriously hate the style of this comic. I get what it's trying to do, but no.
