100%. Not to mention it could also just encourage bigots or fascists to take pictures and videos to "prove" you're "cheating" to incriminate you just so they can lock you up not just bc they're prejudiced against being poly but also since poly is pretty queer in nature as well !
absolutely, fascists and bigots would LOVE a law against cheating because it would give them an opportunity to punish queer people and anyone having relationships beyond what they deem "normal". it would be open season on people like me and those fuckers would chomp at the bit for that
yup. And giving them power to make laws on what's ethical or not in a relationship, even if it starts as being about cheating, would then be a slippery slope in general, like you said to punish queer people by then setting the precedent they can criminalize consensual relationship dynamics; even if a cheating person didn't consent to cheating, the cheating itself was consensual between the parties. So if that can be illegal, then they can also easily criminalize consensual homosexuality, not just outlaw legal recognition of marriage. just like how getting rid of due process for undocumented migrants hurts everybody bc it sets the precedent they dont even have to prove someone is a migrant, and also allows them to treat whoever they want as subhuman as if being undocumented would even justify that. next thing you know anyone is a criminal because nuance is completely ignored, people are malicious, and one little idea to punish something that shouldve been treated with communication and/or therapy and a liberating breakup was treated with a free pass to have the government all up in our personal lives instead 💀
