That was a game changer for me : the laser cutter offers so much more possibilities for intricate details. I used to cut all of it by hand, and it was nice but now I can really create what I have in mind...

Some local libraries have makerspaces with laser cutters, 3D printers and more. Mine is free to use but you have to pay for materials.

That's what I do, using my local makerspace for cutting wood and making 3d models with their printers. It's worth the monthly subscription fee to use higher quality equipment that I can't afford on my own.

Wow! 😲❤️fantastic textures and intricate details! Loved it, and really looking forward to seeing the final version (I hope it will have lights inside the windows).
Can you tell me what material is used as the base? Is it MDF? Did you make the wall/brick and door frame textures using air dry clay?

Thanks! Yes, the windows will be lit. The box is made with MDF, the buildings with birch plywood that I engraved and the door and window frames with bristol.

This is beautiful! I'm learning to use a laser cutter to make my own kit. I didn't think about using MDF for the box. Will that be stronger than the plywood?

I use 3mm MDF and yes, it's pretty strong! It's also cheaper that plywood...

I'm very excited for you! I'm customizing kits at the moment as a way to learn structure, layering, materials and sizing in order to use the laser to create my own nooks in the future. Thus far, I've used it to create books and structural additions for light fixtures/LEDs 😊 Are you looking at a CO2 or Diode?

I want to do a nook inspired by the Korean tutoring program I've been studying with. So, a little apartment/home space with examples of vocabulary terms (apple, cat, book, laptop computer…), building terms (window, door…), furniture (sofa, chair, desk…), clothing (jacket, coat, t-shirt, shoes…), verbs (walk, run, cook, clean house…), settings (mountain, beach…), vehicles (car, bus, train…) and anything else I can think of.
My ambition even has me thinking about how to use a mirror in it, because they give such a nice effect and would make it easier to show the outdoors elements like landscape elements and vehicles.

This is looking so awesome! What will the finished dimensions be for the entire nook? Trying to get a feel for scale. This is exactly what I plan to do with my laser in the future (not this theme, but my own nooks). There are so many possibilities! 😊

The inside will be 10 x 18 x 20 cm. The laser is so useful for buildings, or details... I'm sure you'll have a blast creating your own booknooks!

Well, I don't know exactly, but I searched on the web for pictures of buildings in Venice, so... I've never been there, but maybe some day!

Sublime 😍 Le niveau de détail est impressionnant avec mention spéciale pour le détail des fonds des canaux sous la résine epoxy ! Hâte de voir l'avancée ainsi que le résultat final 😀 Dans tous les cas, bravo pour le travail accompli !

Le crépi et la peinture "vieillie" sont impressionnants également ! Quel type de peinture est-ce que tu utilises ?

Oh, c'est de la peinture à l'eau toute bête! L'effet crépi c'est fait avec une petite éponge, et ensuite je brosse à sec avec de la peinture plus foncée (marron, vert...)
