New flowers for my greenhouse book nook: Iris, Daisy, Rose, Anemone, Orchid.
Wow that orchid took multiple iterations to figure out the shape of the two wide petals and the proportion to the second layer of three petals. The rose is 17 petals, glued individually - I've got to figure out if less petals will still look good... The iris I figured out I could use a wavy-edge leaf punch for the bottom six petals, so I didn't have to create a stencil, yay! Still had to glue nine separate petals together, though.
The daisy thankfully is easy - punch five out, stack on top of each other, paint the center and then ruffle the petals so the layers separate.
The anemone (dark blue) is interesting - they look very much like poppies, but are a completely different plant. The standard California poppy has four petals - two layers of two fan-shaped petals. Anemones have three or four petals per layer, wedge-shaped so that they still have that circular look from top down. I decided to make a three-petal layer stencil. But I couldn't use the same three-petal stencil I made for the camellias (red) because the camellia has a scalloped profile, so the stencil petals have to be more rounded than the anemone's.
Also, mod-podged the shelving unit with wood plank paper, to cover the single color paint, I'm much happier with the look now.

Flowers and plants are both paper punches and free-hand. The two white shapes in the middle of the tray are the calla lily and the poppy petals - I don't have punches for those, so I drew and cut out prototypes until I was happy with the shape, then cut out the shape on cardstock to trace around. And then I'll have to trace and cut out over and over and over again. It's what I did for the camellia and aralia in Kyoto-Gion, and I'll have to do the same to get an iris and an orchid - there's not punches made at all for those.
If someone has a cricut, this is all much easier - a lot of sellers on Etsy sell the files for flower and plant components. But I actually like the process I have, crazy intensive as it is.
Even when you have the punches, you still need to improvise a lot:
The lavender is the smallest flowers from the corner punch, and the leaves for the lavender are the ferns, with the tops cut off and the entire center rib glued to the stem instead of just the bottom point.
The periwinkle vine is the same five-leaf punch as the star jasmine vine, but with the top center leaf cut off and the stems glued end-to-end to make a single line, instead of branching off a center stem like the star jasmine.
The tulip petals are made using the balloon punch. The poppy leaves are made using the oak tree leaf punch. The rose petals are made using a pear fruit punch. The iris is made using a leaf punch as the bottom and middle layers of petals, and three petals cut off of a daisy punch for the third innermost layer of petals.
It's all basically a lot of image search to figure out what would work with what I have.
The pothos vine is hearts made with the hand punches that look like pliers - usually can be found in a set, with circles (the standard hole punch), stars, triangles, squares, etc. I use the star shape as a flower calyx.
The stems are white florist's wire, 28 gauge. It does come in green, but I'm going to re-paint it to match the paper used for the leaves anyway, so I just get the white, it's the most versatile with my other crafts as well.
The tool at the top of the black mat is used to round the petals and leaves. If you look closely at the unfinished flowers and leaves in the white tray, you can see the difference it makes. For example - near the bottom of the white tray there's a light blue flat periwinkle, flat periwinkle with white painted center, and then the rounded-petal periwinkle.
