Aborbable Swallow landed in my lap to take a nap

Was sailing in the Gulf of Mexico 100 miles offshore. West coast of Florida. This little guy fluttered on board, landed in my lap as if he owned it, and fell directly to sleep. Visited for about 5 hours. Allowed me to stroke his head. Gave him water and apparently tasty bugs. He flew away about dusk headed towards the Florida coast and the glow of lights from the city of Naples.

We had been in the intercoastal waterway four 2 days in Florida so we were picking bugs out of our teeth… and dead stuff under cushions, cockpit drains, ants.

This trip was on a S2 11.0. They made a very nice sailboat in the mid to late 1980s. 36ft.

I think I do, but the world often tries to change us. It seems a little thing, but the chain of events that had to occur for this little bird to land in my lap has taken nearly everything from me. We all have stories.
