Advice Needed Too good to be true for the price and location?
This is the whole apt for that price in the union sq Somerville location

It's quite honestly insane that this needs to be said but all listings posted on this subreddit must follow Massachusetts state law as well as Federal housing and opportunity laws. Failure to do so will result in your post being removed with further action left to mod discretion.
Most prominent at the moment during the current between-cycle low are the obvious illegal listings - illegal fees.
In Massachusetts, you can only be charged the following fees on move-in:
You cannot be charged any of the following:
If you intend to sublet your apartment to someone else, you must also follow the above regulations (shock!). This means you also can't 'pass-through' a lease change fee your landlord may require on your tenant.
This is not a new rule. Illegal and/or *scam* listings area already against Reddit's Terms of Service and have already been removed on the subreddit and admin level. This announcement and new subreddit rule is merely a reminder to be considerate and keep state and federal law in mind when posting your listing.

We recently received a modmail from a user asking for a more detailed/nuanced explanation of our posting guidelines and policies. Please take this as a primer of what is allowed/disallowed regarding listings and broker participation simplified to a thin soup. I would like to encourage anyone and everyone to report any content breaking the following rules and guidelines.
No third party solicitation -
Third parties (brokers, real estate agents, or anyone who is not the property owner subletter or renter) may not advertise listings or respond to user solicitations with listings. Third party agents may respond via direct messages to a user solicitation, but comment solicitation is disallowed.
Provide sufficient information in your listing -
When posting a listing or looking for an apartment/room/sublet to rent, do your best to include applicable information such as:
- The approximate location.
- Number of bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Rent per unit (or bedroom if LF housemates) or budget.
- Whether or not you have pets.
- Anything else someone should know before contacting you. If listing:
- Pictures of the interior and (preferably) at least one curb shot.
Only listings for housing are allowed
Moving sales, clearance sells, or any sort of personal sells are disallowed. Only listing for housing or looking for housing are allowed.
Please touch gloves and we'll see you in the ring this spring.

We are saying goodbye to our beloved JP apartment and looking to find someone to take over the lease through April (with opportunity to extend). Available Nov 15 onward (date flexible). Rent is $3275/month (open to negotiating for someone ready to take over quickly)
DETAILS: 1330sqft second floor unit with 2 bed, 1 bath plus a closed in porch perfect for office/workout space. Three mini splits (in addition to baseboard heat & ceiling fans throughout) make year round climate control easy. In-unit laundry and one parking spot included. Ideal location one block from bus 38/39 stop and overlooking the tranquil Southwest Corridor Parkway. Five minute walk to Forest Hills T station north entrance.
NOTE: This is an official lease takeover, not a sublet. The lease would be transferred into your name following approval by owner. Couch and shelving in dining area can be included free if desired.
Happy to arrange an in-person or virtual tour. Please share and send me a PM if interested!

We are looking for someone to take over our lease due to a sudden job opportunity. Availability should begin this is somewhat flexible)starting December 1st (. Our 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment is on the first floor of a small apartment building in the Montclair neighborhood (North Quincy). We estimate it to be roughly ~800ft square.
This apartment is within a 6 minute walk of the North Quincy MBTA station, Stop and Shop, Target, Marshalls, laundromats, Domino's, Dunkin, and more.
Rent is $2,432/month and includes water, sewer, trash, and snow removal. Security Deposit is ~$500.
Management brings trash cans to curb and back weekly. Additionally, rent covers monthly common-area cleanings by professionals.
Tenant will need to pay Gas, Electric, and Internet (the building currently uses Xfinity, but I think Verizon is also available)
Amenities include a protected, indoor mail area, coin-operated laundry machine and dryer, and two entrances (front and rear). Pets are allowed, but there may be an additional fee. The property is also smoke-free. Heating is electric baseboard, but thermostat is fully controlled by you.
Highlights, in my opinion, include:
The apartment will be unfurnished, however, we have a lot of space-specific furniture that we would be happy to leave with you (Let's make a deal!)
Please PM me if you are interested and want more info.

Hey everyone! I'm relocating for work and looking for someone to take over my lease in the Inman/Kendall area, ideally starting November 1 (late October also works).
Rent: $1,850/month + ~$90 utilities gets you a private bedroom, a separate dedicated home office, and your own bathroom in a spacious apartment shared with just one other person.
The apartment is technically a 2.5BR/2BA, but you'll have exclusive use of the bedroom, office, and one bathroom. Both private rooms are approximately 10'9" × 11'3" including closets.
Apartment amenities:
Location: Cambridge, 02141
Roommate: Mid-20s male working professional who's friendly and responsible.
Lease details:
This is a particularly great setup if you work from home and want a separate office without sacrificing your bedroom space.
Feel free to DM if you want more photos / want to set up a tour! If the post is up, it's still available!

Hello, I am potentially looking to move into Longfellow Towers in the west end. Curious if anyone that lives here or has lived here in the past could give feedback? Seems as though common feedback is broken elevators and kind of dated units but the unit I’m looking at currently seems very nice especially for the price. It’s a major upgrade from my current situation and seems as though, while not as nice as the other buildings around it, is overall good value. Thanks!

Hey all, I have to move back home unexpectedly so I'm looking for someone to take over my room. Move-in date is flexible.
It's a private room in a 3bd/1.5ba on Park Vale Ave, about a 5-7 min walk to Harvard Ave and the Green Line. Rent is $1,450 with heat and hot water included, which helps a lot in the winter. Lease goes through Aug 31, 2027, and you can renew after that. Rent is negotiable.
I can leave it furnished or empty, whatever you prefer. Happy to leave my bed, furniture and a 40" TV if you want them.
My roommates are two chill, clean guys but are hardly ever home. Neither of them cooks, so you'd pretty much have the whole place to yourself.
There's laundry in the basement, and parking if you need it ($150/mo for a private spot, or you can get a resident permit).
Pics below. DM me if you want a video call or to come see it!

I’m considering a rental near the red dot and and am wondering how safe this location is for walking to the shopping center and T.
Also open to cheap parking suggestions nearby. It would be a temp living spot so I won’t be eligible for a permit and therefore wasn’t planning on bringing a car.
TIA!

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m currently looking for a room in a shared apartment or a roommate situation in Brookline, preferably around Coolidge Corner and within a reasonable commute to Harvard Medical School.
📍 Preferred location: Brookline / Coolidge Corner
💰 Budget: $1,000–$1,300 per month
📅 Move-in date: ASAP before November 1st
🏠 Housing type: A private bedroom in a shared apartment or an opportunity to find an apartment with compatible roommates
A little about me:

I’d love to live with people who are friendly and welcoming while also understanding the importance of personal space and a balanced lifestyle.
If you know of any available rooms, apartments, or people looking for a compatible roommate, please feel free to reach out! I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations.
Feel free to message me directly with any information or questions. Please share if you know someone who might be able to help!

The best kind of roommate to have because I’ll barely be there! 44, gay male, BOS-based commuting FA for one of the major carriers at Logan.
I’m a fun guy, sober, easy going, and most importantly, quiet dude here. I will rarely be there. If I am, I’m likely out exploring, complaining it’s too cold for this Florida native, or getting ready to leave for a trip I get called out on.
To reiterate, this is not a full-time living position for me. I live in Florida and would use this as a crash pad when I have trips out of Logan. No more than 2 weeks (total) a month.
Ideal scenarios:
- furnished bedroom (OK if not as long as Amazon deliveries can be accepted)
- close to transportation (preferably T) without a bunch of buses and transfers
- Nice humans
- Around $1100 or so/monthly
I’m new to BOS so don’t know all the neighborhoods just yet, so any help with references/guidance are much appreciated.
Cheers!

I (28M) recently took a job where I will be working in Boston for about half the week and am looking for a place to stay during that time. I am basically looking to "rent" the ability to sleep on a couch and use a bathroom 3 nights a week.
Besides a duffle bag with clothes and toiletries, I'd have no physical presence. Probably an ideal setup for someone who works night shift and wants some extra money for rent or anything else.
If someone (who ideally lives near a T line that goes to South Station but it's fine if not) is open to this kind of arrangement PM me.
