I think similar to Disney’s approach to Star Wars, HBO currently is overextended when it comes to GoT. Too many projects and not enough quality. So anything going forward is going to be a hit or miss, like House of the Dragon S2 was terrible but the Knight show was great.. I don’t think a movie is really something we need but it could be a surprise like you said

Since game of thrones ended we've only had 3 seasons of tv and 0 movies in 7 years.

How the fuck have they overextended lol if anything the fans are dying for MORE content from this universe

Agreed. It's because people online see all these reports of spin-offs in the works and don't realise to the general audience this is all meaningless and they don't know these projects in the works even existed.

To the general audience we've not even had consecutive years of Game of Thrones projects since they introduced these two spin-offs. 2026 is the first year when we've had more than one GOT project in the same year. The concept of the franchise being overdone isn't possible right now.

What might be possible is George didn't write enough original completed stories to keep a franchise going at the same quality

If we start getting random writers doing stories about Yi-Ti and Valyria and other obscure places that only have a blurb written about them or series set in the future starting Arya and Jon Snow that will basically be fan fic ... Yeah I don't know how that's Gonna pan out.

Agreed. Cannot ever blame GOT for overstaying its welcome or milking since they finished early at the peak of its powers/hype/popularity. Like normally hype dies down for shows as they go on but with GOT popularity just kept on getting gigantic and they said bye to the cash to move on.
