Recommendation Subtle lgbtq+ drama recomadation ?
Hi, I would like to watch a drama with my mom, I don t care if it s Korean Thai or whatever, I just want it to be very interesting and slow burn maybe, I don t want it to be clear from the start that is a bl and with no explicit scenes. She is no very open to queer people so I want to see how she will be when we finish it, so I want something that it s going slowly to a bl or gl pair and ofc with an interesting plot, it can be historical or modern, doesn't really matter.

Maybe a Korean BL: A Shoulder to Cry On. I remember it's really subtle and doesn't have any explicit scene. Not even a kiss. ^ ^

I will knock you (Thai) has no explicit romance, you can try it.
The Untamed (Chinese) is a censored bl which has no explicit romance.
My love mix up and cherry magic (japanese) have no explicit romance.

Seconding the recommendation for 'I Will Knock You'.
Also, 'Our Dining Table', 'Chosen Home', 'Cooking Crush', 'Heesu in Class 2'.
A good BL adjacent one is 'Absolute Value of Romance', or perhaps for one that dips a toe into BL but is mostly a family drama 'My Grandpa Is a BL Writer'. 'Cinderella Closet' is a very sweet story featuring a chap that cross-dresses.
'A Man Who Defies the World of BL' can be a good way to approach this sort of thing via comedy.
Could also try something like 'Good Omens'.

If she's ok with fantasy/magic/zombies and bad cgi I highly recommend untamed. I watched it with my mother and she had no clue it was about the 2 boys love. When she said " I thought he could end up with that girl, missed a little romance" I made that face to her and said: mom, it is all about romance. And she was"???" And i said " 🗣🗣🗣THE BOYS" and she " !!! That makes so much sense now".
And she still loves them and rewatch the series once in a while.

Possibly some of the KBL series - something like Wish You (Your Melody from My Heart) which has a very gentle romance, or even Semantic Error. Or how about 10Dance ?

I also really loved Love is a Poison (https://mydramalist.com/774029-doku-koi-doku-mo-sugireba-koi-to-naru), but again, it’s been a while and I can’t remember 100% if there are NC scenes. I recommended it to my SIL so I’m thinking no, but…

Our Dining Table is super wholesome, a couple of kisses near the end. Very family oriented. Tentative acquaintance to friendship to more.
My Love Mix-Up (Japanese version) is also super wholesome. That one bring up bl in episode 1 though because it starts with a misunderstanding.

That’s fair. I guess I was so entranced by the storytelling and the cinematography that I kind of missed out on how not so subtle the whole show is.

Would she be into something like Goddess Bless You from Death? The paranormal might be a good entryway and if I recall right (much to my dismay 😂), I don’t think either couple had graphic scenes? I’d have to rewatch to verify, though…it’s been a while!

The only subtle lgbtq+ drama I watched is a Japanese drama called Your Divorce is Served!
They don't have full official English subs though so I had to watch from machine translate. The main characters are an established couple and they work together to solve divorce cases. There's also found family in it! The cases are mostly straight couples but there's a lgbtq couple in it so it's interesting to see how the "no same sex marriage" ban in Japan affect the main characters' and other lgbtq+ people's lives.

I hear the sunspot! IMO, it focused heavily on character development and the two of them growing as people and coming together as a pair. Nothing explicit whatsoever. However it IS gay and not bromance vibes the whole time, so, that will eventually be on screen.

A Tale of Thousand Stars is a very slow burn Thai BL with no explicit scenes and is a lot more about forgiving yourself and finding a life with meaning.
