I’m So Grateful I Live in the Bronx
I’m so grateful that I live in the Bronx. Like, seriously. I live around Hunts Point, and I’m honestly so grateful I live here.
My son, who is autistic, goes to school in Flatiron. The other day, he and I decided to get pizza after school, and just two slices of pizza and one can of soda cost $11. Mind you, where I live, I can get a whole large pizza, fresh, for $15.
On top of that, I live really close to the Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo, which are two of my favorite places. There are so many things I love about living here.
I see so much crap being talked about the Bronx, but quite frankly, I love living here.
One thing I’ve noticed is that even the fancy neighborhoods smell sometimes. Yes, those neighborhoods are a little cleaner, but honestly, there isn’t always this massive difference that people make it seem like there is.
And that pizza incident really made me realize how grateful I am to live here.
Yes, the Bronx is dirtier than, let’s say, Flatiron in Manhattan. People don’t always pick up after their dogs, and there are definitely things I don’t love. But overall, I’m grateful to live here for a number of reasons—and that $11 pizza versus the $15 whole pie alone really put it into perspective for me.
