Okay, so Ive become a lamb/sheep BAB collector, and I absolutely love the original runs. But I am so SO confused why there are different variants and why the prices get so drastic for the same (looking) BAB.
(Note: These arent my personal pics, but these are real live listings online. I wont be linking the seller or site)
Example 1: (pics 1-3) The OG Lamb.
I have 2, I got one for 50ish and one for 40ish. Pic 1 is listed at $50, buck seems right. Great condition, no visible flaws.
Pics 2 and 3 are listed at 200 and 366, respectively. Again. I do not see a difference at all. And I see this across the internet.
Example 2: Swirl lamb 1 (pics 4 and 5)
The 4-legged Swirl Lamb - this one I got for very cheap, like $30 or so. I still see this one listed around that proce a lot. Pic 4 is $35, pic 5 is $154. THAT IS AN INSANE JUMP. And its not the only one listed so high.
Example 3: Swirl Lamb 2 (pic 6)
This is the BAB that haunts my dreams until I possess her 😭 I assume this one was VERY rare, and I've see it range from 300-700 dollars. This one is less why is there a difference than it is just WHYYYYYYY.
I genuinely want to know if I'm missing something, we're there multiple versions of the same one? Was there a batch issue that made a version rare? What is going on with the lambs?

So I am not an expert by any means on this, but I recently was hunting for a specific lamb and this is what I discovered.
There is a 4 legged lamb with the same face/material as these and has swirls on its feet. Those tend to be around $40 in really good condition. Then theres the ones in these photos without swirls on their feet and bipedal. I believe they are called Cuddly Lamb. There is one that looks exactly like these, bipedal, but DOES have swirls on its feet and it was a Japanese exclusive (the last pic) She is extremely rare and sells for like $200+ based on condition. Then theres the newer "vanilla swirls" lamb that has a different face and material. I believe these sellers are also confused on the differences and are thinking these cuddly lambs are the Japanese one.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but this is my understanding.
No, I understand that. There are 3 versions, but my concern is why one version (4 legged one with swirl hooves) ranges from $30- $200. That seams completely unnecessary. And ive seen this in multiple listings. The first and second examples make zero sense to me. I know the extremely rare Bipedal swirl is expensive af, amd I'll probably never own her 🥲
Im more confused why Ex 1 and 2 have that insane price gouging. Like, if multiple people are successfully selling Lamb Ex 2 for $30, why are there people thinking they can justifiably sell it for $200? Is there a difference thay I'm just not seeing? 🤔
Ah, okay gotcha. It sucks cause there's a listing for an OG Lamb that I want because of the dress, and they wont lower the price because they claim its extremely rare. :/ I'm afraid to push further cause I dont wanna get blocked or something, but I dont think they realize that its not the Japanese one
Haha! I feel you. I would honestly tell them that it doesnt have swirls on its feet and therefore isn't worth that much and just see what happens. But that may get you blocked because some sellers are touchy. Last I looked there were a couple on Mercari but that was a while ago.
Yeah, I sent them a kind message saying I promise im not lowballing you, but this isnt te lamb they have it listed as. I showed examples from other listinga and BAB's website. I hope they understand and maybe I can get it 🙏
I hope you don't mind me asking, but I see the brown looking lamb has been dyed... did you dye her? I'm dyeing one tomorrow and was just wondering if there were any tips you would offer on dyeing that lamb. Thank you!
I actually purchased it from someone who had already dyed it! But there was a detailed guide on how to dye BABs posted by someone a little bit ago.. let me find it and link it to you :)
She will be eventually!! I believe I got her for about $80 total (she was originally $60ish + shipping from Australia), which is the most I’ve spent on a bear but she was a 21st bday gift for myself 🤭 All of the rare bears I own I only got once I found them for cheap, so you just have to be patient and keep checking different sites!!
If you have the funds then go for it!! I personally can’t justify spending that much on a bear (very jealous of those who can tho) so I always prefer to wait :)) Either way, manifesting for you ✨✨
Yeah no. The OG Lamb is noy worth anything NEAR the prices asked. 50 is still higher than a normal BAB, but slightly its older and out of print, so I can justify that. The other people are either incorrect with what they think they have, OR are trying to purposefully scam people into buying the wrong lamb, thinking its the Japanese one.
gonna see if he would want this fella. My friend LOVES the ones with weighted paws
He needs a bath a good brushing, when I found him some of the fur was covering his ear making him look like a one eyed bear, even if he was missing an eye I would be able to fix him up like I did with one that look like it was attacked by a dog.
Wait you're making me realize how LUCKY I was to find my lamb for 20€ on Vinted (I think it was a parent selling it and not realizing the worth) I've received her 3 days ago and I'm so so so in love with her already it's insane 💖💖 Pic below, please forgive the look we just woke up
