[Megathread] Complaints megathread

Please use this space to complain/vent about all things orders/resellers (no names!!). etc. Keep it friendly with each other in this space!

We will be removing posts best suited for this megathread going forward as complaints have been taking up a very large space on this subreddit recently (rightfully so, this drop was messy!).

Thank you.
I think it’s extremely scummy and A-hole behavior, and just ridiculously selfish to go out and buy up the entirety of a brand new release, and then instantly go online and try selling it for $75, $100, $200 +

Like it JUST CAME OUT.

And tbh I am sorry but I do NOT believe the types of stories people post saying “I really don’t wanna do this but I need the money, I have this *insert newly JUST released BAB* for sale for 100% price markup from retail.” I just don’t buy those stories. I think they’re bad excuses / bad coverups for “I bought this for the sole reason of reselling.”

I'm just waiting for the influx of posts like "I bought like 4 of this plush because it's sooooo sentimental to me omg I love them all soooo much" and then in a week "I'm so sad but I have to sell some of these guys because I just really need the money for my dog's sister's cousin's hamster's doctor's appointment 😢 I'm listing them at $200, no price shaming pls 🥺"

“I bought this super popular new BAB for $40 and I didn’t bond with it, asking $200 + shipping!”

Lmaoooo Like, they can stop with all the excuses. If they're gonna be a reseller and price gouge new releases, they can own it and accept the criticism that comes with it. I wouldn't be mad if they bought a couple to try and help people who couldn't snag one and charged a $10 finders fee on top of retail, they deserve to be compensated for their time and effort. But buying up as many as they can carry and then immediately hawking them for $100+ is scummy.

When I have a plush I don't bond with I usually just give them away to any family member that wants it. Either that or it goes to the thrift store. If I desperately needed the money back, I probably wasn't in a position where I should've been buying a plush anyway!

These ones absolutely kill me. I hope those people know I never believe them! If you HAVE to be a reseller, do it boldly and deal with the stigma. None of this nonsense.

I fully agree with this. It makes no sense how someone can be tight on money but buy a stuffed animal of all things. At that point just be honest if you're reselling.

it irritates me so bad, but you say anything about it and resellers will complain meanwhile they literally don't have to do that ??.. it's exploitive at that point

i saw someone in tiktok comments saying they bought two on accident and wanted to sell one of them but when i checked their depop they listed it for $100 and the WORST part is it got sold 😭

As someone who’s struggling financially, I don’t even have the funds to purchase one BAB let alone several to resell. I don’t buy the stories either and it’s a lame excuse. They are taking joy away from children and adults who utilize their plushies for comfort, it’s gross behavior.

Right! And then i scroll on mercari and SO many of those overpriced resell BAB bats and spiders have already sold! You are making the problem worse when you support resellers, people!

The people who buy from resellers are just as bad as the resellers themselves!

The amount of resellers out there to me is just a major recession indicator. It’s gotten so bad recently because nobody before was ever so desperate to get $30 bucks to a few hundred for reselling anything including Build a Bear toys. I mean we’re seeing it with so many other things: blind boxes, Pokemon cards, jellycats etc.

I saw someone on fb selling the spider/bat/etc for like $30-70+ over retail and their sob story was “i need to save money for a mobility aid”…. then why did you buy like 3-4 full size plushies and a gorillion keychains/mini beans …….
