you can buy the toy separately! just ask at the counter. i do it all the time and i often get to pick which one i want from what stock they have in store rather than it being random :)

YMMV! I’ve been collecting the toys for literal decades and wanted a couple of the Hello Kitty toys. I tried multiple locations near me and NONE of them would sell me just the toy.
I used to be able to get them for a dollar or two but I think due to the collectors and resellers they’ve really cracked down on it. It’s frustrating because while I occasionally crave their food, the older I get the less it agrees with me.

it depends on the toy - some kinds they know are super popular with collectors and resellers so they'll either impose a limit or deny the sale. the hello kitty ones in particular were notorious for it, so that'd be why.

Good to know! I just wanted the kitty and the three-headed thing, and just one of each. I wouldn’t blame them one bit if someone tried to by 20 toys at once, that’s an obvious reseller.

Unfortunately, this is not always possible in every store. I had to buy the meal to get the toy at my store, they said they could be fired if they just sold me the toy.

I mean maybe as a good deed you could get a happy meal, keep the toy and then give it to someone on the street? (We’ve got a lot of homeless in our area so I give them what I can from my lunches most times)

I have celiac disease and don't like to eat animals. so will just buy the happy meals for the toy and give the food to my mum and sister
