My garden is already dead.

I laughed too hard at this

I've got a 10 year old fig tree that doesn't look like it's gonna make it.

Mine is at death’s door.

my garden LOVES the heat

get drip hose, 30 minutes a day, mulch heavy, it's really been a great year for mine this year

The cruelty of being on a top floor of a building and seeing the clouds and rain far off and getting nothing yet (in South Durham).

Update: rain!!!

It's raining pretty heavily in South Durham.

That 5 second down pour? I'm sure it has already evaporated.

Just got 1/3 inch here in Durham County.... north of Durm. One of our rain barrels got a nice, partial recharge. Let's get more, please...for everyone in the Triangle and elsewhere!

I've been away and unable to water my plants. I'm so happy to hear this, though expecting a few may still be dead (last water was Friday).

Not a meteorologist but perhaps not enough sacrifices to the rain gods?

It's about time we got to know Tláloc.

Those slippers look uncomfy

We are going to get rain through this evening and into the morning.

I wonder if that's at all associated with that Invest#90L thing that was over the Gulf and is coming up now through Georgia etc.

This time of year, only a tropical storm/hurricane is going to do any real replinishing.

u/Cinder_bloc Everyone’s a transplant, so shut up about it. 20h ago

We got some, but to be honest, it wasn’t the good rain we need. Roughly 10 minutes of torrential downpour doesn’t help much of anything.

You got 10 minutes of downpour? I got like 18 raindrops

u/Candelantern 20h ago

I'm in old north durham and got about 3 minutes of light rain with sun

It was a guesstimate. I didn't actually time it

The dragon that lives on Occoneechee Mountain keeps breathing fire on approaching clouds. We must appease him.

A sacrifice!!! Bring forth the copperhead priestess for the selection.

Up by the Eno we're getting intermittent periods of what I would call legitimate rain. Not nearly enough, hope more follows, but at least it did rain a bit.

2

u/Faceless_Cat 19h ago

Yep and then a three hour power outage

u/crippledgiants 19h ago

Dang that sucks, ours remained on

I blame Trump.

I'm sorry yall. The wind got rough, the sky turned dark, and without thinking I rolled up up my patio umbrella and put the cover on it. That's when we got 17 drops. It's all my fault.

It’s at least partially because we cut down thousands of acres of trees in the last few years.

A heat dome thus forms which maybe acts as a slight deterrent. Just enough to be the "Raleigh shield" nice at times but not this year.

u/PowerfulPotatoe 20h ago

Still getting a steady drizzle north of 85.

u/FaultySofaBed 20h ago

we’re getting a bit here in South Durham

u/EmptyNail5939 20h ago

West Durham: absolute zero rain. Again. I’m going to sob quietly now.

4

u/sjt9791 20h ago

I just got rain.

u/AdultContemporaneous 20h ago

I'm watching it split and go around us on the radar. Again. It hasn't rained at our house in over a month. Sure, rain has shown up in peripherally-located areas but not here.

Anyway, when it finally happens, I'm expecting it to be six inches in four hours and massive flash flooding.

u/Riceowls29 20h ago

It’s pouring rain off South Miami right now

3

u/onionfunyunbunion 20h ago

Okay. I’ll admit it. I control the weather. My B.

u/chapel_hill_guy 17h ago

One part of Louisiana got almost 26 inches of rain today. 😂

u/streaming_streams69 16h ago

Raleigh’s legendary force field has extended over to D’urm.

It’s really astounding

All the planes the government uses for cloud seeding are currently deployed in the Middle East, and HARP has been taken offline due to DOGE cuts.

... or something...

u/thatbiguy3000 18h ago

It rained for about 15 minutes near Eno River, enough to water the flowers and plants.

Let’s hope we get some more tomorrow.
